How do I delete/destroy unwanted items in survival?

How do I destroy things form my world, I have so many Totebot heads littered around my farm and they never seem to despawn, nothing does. I see this causing huge game world problems.

Only thing I've found to actually delete an item, is to go to a loot crate and place it in there. but that's miserable when i get 5 stacks of seeds per harvest and like 4 heads a night.

do items despawn after a long while if you drop them(like the green glow around them) and I've just not noticed?

Drop them while in the inventory tab
Drag and drop outside of the inventory(e.g. on the ground) and the block/item will be dropped on the ground
