Ahh, i didn't go in the ship as it was on fire, figure it would kill me. Thanks I couldn't figure out how to craft. It's weird that some things indicate the mouse button to pick them up and others don't. e.g. i didn't know you could pick the master battery up.
yup this... it was really obvious what to do. there are like 3 buckets right next to the first "farm" you see immedietely when exiting the ship... there are posters with explanations... only thing not to obviouis in my eyes was the craft bot you craft having way more blocks to craft then the standard craft bot that is installed... i didnt build the craft bot cause i thought "well i already got one of these" they should maybe name it MK2 or so.. other then that trading etc. is pretty fun and engaging to find out! reading tooltips and looking around helps.
But seriously, younger gamers won't remember as easily the days when all you had was a 20 page pamphlet to tell you what all the buttons on the controller did, and released you out into the game world. As time passed, games have been made more and more accessible--this is a good thing, but the side effect is lowering the learning curve.
Rather than name-calling and describing people as unintelligent, we should welcome these players who want to take the time to learn this wonderful way to experience the game and build a sense of accomplishment, but prepare them for the journey by setting expectations for the patience and perseverance required to accomplish their goals in this medium.
Love it or hate it, this approach doesn't fulfill everyone's goals for gaming--be they relaxation, or challenge, or what-have-you--but everyone deserves a fair chance.
In all fairness, the big red guys will destroy you easily if you don't have a plan.
And really, the community as a whole should probably start building and advertising a minecraft-style wiki before the game leaves early access.
a lake with a bucket ON a step right next to the water. Like how do you not understand what to do? then after putting the ship out you see you need power and you walk out of the ship and have a glowing green brick road with loot. You go up the tower and at the top is a thing on a throne facing right at you. And look, its name is master battery!. Then the game gives you a giant sign on how to farm and a road to follow.
The only thing i wish was in the game would be all the names of stuff in the craft bot. Like Ember wood, i thought it was a rock.
First time player here. Figured this all out by myself. But then again I love games that don't hold your hand. I like to figure things out for myself.
