A lot of other sandbox survival games have something similar. It's actually an extremely useful feature in some of them, especially games like Scrap Mechanic, as you can design and test creations without having to waste potential resources. A perfect example would be the Space Engineers community. One of the most common pieces of advice is to design, build, and test ships in creative then save the blueprint and build via projector in survival.
I have about three vehicles so far, no base build, and my world is already starting to become unstable. Need to be able to spawn and despawn one of each creation at a time by maybe like a creationbot or printbot or something that costs maybe some fuel and oil to run or needs and engine or something like that. Since you wouldn't be actually gaining any resources from it you'd just be putting the ones you had into a save state.
