Game keeps crashing ?

hi. My game has been crashing a lot, i'd be in the middle of playing, and it just freezes and then closes itself. It doesn't give me any log or report, it just closes and then nothing. This has been happening for a while and has caused me to stop playing the game for about 4 months, but i really enjoy the game and don't want to stop playing it because of some bug. Any help?

That's a bummer! That's odd that it just goes away.
Is your graphics card driver up to date?

If you've tried a world without mods, does it still crash?


If the above doesn't reveal an answer, I suppose I'd probably start doing my usual "I have no idea why it won't work" troubleshooting procedures...
(It may be that none of these will help, but it's what I'd try.)

VERIFY FILE INTEGRITY

With the game not running, verify integrity of game files...
1) In Steam, right-click Scrap Mechanic in your library.
2) Select "Properties".
3) Go to the "LOCAL FILES" tab.
4) Click "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES".

If I still had the issue after that...

DELETE CACHE

You could try deleting cache to see if it helps since it's easy to try.
With the game not running, delete all files in this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Scrap Mechanic\Cache\

(Note that the game will take a long time to load after removing cache.)

If I still had the issue after that...

UNINSTALL & REINSTALL GAME

I'd try uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

This folder holds all the folders for your saved content:
C:\Users\(your name)\AppData\Roaming\Axolot Games\Scrap Mechanic\User\User_(long number)\
The "Blueprints" folder there contains all your creations.
The "Challenges" folder contains any challenges you've built.
The "Mods" folder contains any mods you've made.
The "Progress" folder contains your challenge progress.
The "Save" folder contains all your saved worlds.
The 'Tiles" folder contains any tiles you've made.
The "Worlds" folder contains any worlds you've made.

Thanks! Uninstalling and reinstalling seems to have fixed the issue, for now. I hope the game won't crash again, it was really frustrating.

Okay well apparently not. I tried everything you said and the game still crashes for no reason. This has been going on for like a year and it's starting to get very annoying....

I have the same problem, I typed this late but I hope you could help me, the same glitch happens and only happens in survival when I'm in a driver seat/saddle, I'm not sure why only when I'm using a driver seat/saddle but it got annoying since I could not freely explore, when the glitch happens it shuts down my computer and it takes awhile just to open it again. I have not tested if same goes with seats/ toilets/ etc. Also, it only happens if your the only person online. I hope I gave enough information to help you figure this out! Thanks.

Sounds like your PC is having thermal failure. There is nothing in the game that can make your PC shut down and not open. Do you have a way to monitor your PC temp?
