Game crashes on start-up? Please read

Hello Mechanics!

We have received reports that some of you experience a game crash when starting up the game;
The screen goes black, you see the Axolot Logo, and then it crashes.

This issue seems to be caused by a faulty game update, and should be resolved by re-installing the game.

You can also try to "Verify integrity of game cache" via Steam.
To do this, right click Scrap Mechanic in your games library, select "Properties", go to the "Local Files"-tab, and click "Verify integrity of game cache".

Secondly,
if you navigate to "../Steam/steamapps/common/Scrap Mechanic/Data/Gui/Language" and find a folder named "DE-de.txt", please delete it.

We believe there's an issue with Steam and updating the game for some users.
While we look into this further, this works as a solution.

Error Initializing DirectX. Seen this error since Christmas!!! Glad i spent 20 bucks on this error message.

hope you can, but good luck. Been happening for quite a while and the developpers still have done nothing about it. Just like everyone else, I launch the game, it shows the Axolot logo for a few seconds, every once and a while it shows the start screen but ussually just black, then crashes.

you guys, it's probably your PCs, not the game. scrap mechanic is not on the greatest engine but at least it still works right? it's still playable...

My scrap mechanic doesnt work. I open it, a black screen appears... bugsplat. I viewed the report details and a .xml file was starred. I resolved an issue with rocket league and norton deleting the RL.exe file because of a false positive of a trojan virus. A while after i got norton, scrap mechanic started crashing. Norton probably might not be the issue but i just wanted to throw it out there.

SM is not starting with error message that graphics driver has to be updated, in game log I have got

DirectX Error "D3D11CreateDeviceAndSwapChain" failed.
The specified device interface or feature level is not supported on this system.


Device creation failed

DXDIAG reports features:
Feature Levels: 10_0,9_3,9_2,9_1
which as I understand is enaugh.
Any ideas why not working

Guys, a new update prevents people with intergrated graphics cards from playing. The only thing we can do now is wait for a fix of some sort.

Same here, I would love to play the game but can't play it. I tried it on multiple PC's but it doesn't work. :(

I used to be able to play it. Have roughly 400hrs on the game. I havent changed anything and it just stopped working. wont even get to the axolot logo before i get bugsplat. please help. I love this game
