Game crashes on start-up? Please read

Hello Mechanics!

We have received reports that some of you experience a game crash when starting up the game;
The screen goes black, you see the Axolot Logo, and then it crashes.

This issue seems to be caused by a faulty game update, and should be resolved by re-installing the game.

You can also try to "Verify integrity of game cache" via Steam.
To do this, right click Scrap Mechanic in your games library, select "Properties", go to the "Local Files"-tab, and click "Verify integrity of game cache".

Secondly,
if you navigate to "../Steam/steamapps/common/Scrap Mechanic/Data/Gui/Language" and find a folder named "DE-de.txt", please delete it.

We believe there's an issue with Steam and updating the game for some users.
While we look into this further, this works as a solution.

This still didn't work for me. I restarted Steam then did the "Verify integrity of game cache" thing and looked for the folder named "DE-de.txt" (it wasn't there for me) and tried launching the game and it was still crashing. It stays at the Axolot screen for about 5-15 seconds and then crashes. Please fix!

Edit: When I verify it says "3 files failed to validate and will be reacquired" if I do it again it says that it's all good, but then whenever I run the game and it crashes if I verify again it says that 3 files failed to validate. Any Ideas?

Ditto, as per Notice30 except my files verify ok. I'm frustrated... Just spent £14.99 for a non working game. I've tried all of the above hints and tips including updating the windows graphics driver... Can I have a refund please?

When i click scrap mechanic icon( and other icons) a small window appears saying "preparing to load scrap mechanic" and disappears in a second and does absoulutly nothing at all!

Im having the same issue. I've done the above recommendation, and there's nothing wrong with the integrety of the files and i dont have that file in my languages folder.

My computer has all the recommended specs.

I'm so dissappointed, all it does is open the small window and say "preparing to load scrap mechanic" and then disappears.

I was looking forward to playing this game so much.

Please help to fix this issue.........

I had the same problem and I have succeed in fix it. I tried the above recommandations first but the issue was staying.

What I have done is : went into my program files in my local disk (C:) and select steam/steamapps/common/Schrap Mechanic/Release and try to run file Schrap Mechanic.exe.
I had an error message telling me that I can run this file because it missed me file d3dx11_43.dll. So I uploaded this file on internet and paste it in the folder above (Release).
Then, I run the game from steam and perfect, it works.

I hope I have been clear in my explanation. Tell me if it's good for you after you have tried as well.

same, i even loaded it on my steam library and it didnt work, it first says running then syncing then it disappears. I can run other games but not this one, I have seen many youtubers play this but it started to run. :(

(EDIT) I have gone into my directory folder and seen that it isnt running due to something called "d3dx11_43.dll" and it is missing and needs to be reinstalled but how do I do that? Also checked for the DE-de.txt and its not in there either (in the languages folder) all i apparently need is the "d3dx" thing. I know this is a very early build of this game and I really want to play it so please fix it. Thanks

Thanks for the top tip. I downloaded the DLL file and dropped it into the release folder as you described. It now works. It was very slow / laggy. Fixed by going into the game options - Graphics options and turned down and off all of the graphics options..

didnt work for me, i still had the BugSplat Report thing

When i try to start the game it says, Unable to initalize DirectX, Please make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. I have DirectX 11, Newest graphics drivers, Windows 32 bit, Please help!

i think you should add the feature to be able to play when using chrome.
since 1.28 stuff have become invisible and made it unplayable for many.
then today i read an article about a guy having trouble playing some games by chrome because it use its own version of java and stuff.
oh well. then i tried selecting explorer as default and got the latest java..and viola.. now everything is visible and working.. this should narrow it down so a sollution is in next update i hope.

First off when you clean-reinstall the game and run it, just be patient and let the game recreate its cache... it might take up to two min on an average PC.

@ the devs: the game try to load the "VehicleCameraMode" before its creation and it's producing some exceptions in the engines rt...

however the current game state / release has some client bugs and it's yelling about some missing MyGUI_Widget code....

- you should turn down the verbose level of your debugger because its extremely slowing down the games overall performance....
