How to actually bind keyboard keys?

When I re-bind keys through the small menu you get when launching the game, it registers the keys I press just fine, but once in-game, the keys are still the same. I suppose this isn't an issue for people who use QWERTY but it is for us AZERTY users: the movement keys are too far apart and completely illogical, e.g. the 'forward' button W is on the bottom row of the keyboard for us. How come the game doesn't register the key bindings we enter in the launcher? Is there a solution for this issue?

same for me...I cannot play and enjoy the game with unintuitive controls
it should be implemented into every games coming out, it's 2019 after all
yet it isn't and if one wants custom controls, they should use a key binding tool which I'm not familiar with, it's quite complicated for regular Joes
controller doesn't work either although controller layout appears in the sub menu you are referring to...
I dont understand and since your post is 3 year sold now and no one answered it..i guess i'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥
