It's like the games don't matter. It's just Youtubers going "LOOK AT ME TALK ABOUT THIS GAME, LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT MEEEEEE I'M SPECIAL".
No thanks.
Not as extreme as a feeling towards youtubers (or streamers whatever) as you but I don't see why TC couldn't just review the game or post thoughts here.
It's a 10 minute game, a couple paragraphs at most (unless you're pretentious and think literal notes laying about = depth/hard to follow) and call it a day!
It's free and it runs on a potato strapped to a toaster so anyone interested could check it out free of a 3rd party chiming in with their insights. Oh and this type of game would be ruined with that experience. The isolation and lack of voice help the narrative/sensation of crushing loneliness.
Best of luck to you TC w your YTing or Streaming or Twitching or whatever its called. I stream occasionally but don't use voice and it's more so a vehicle for
1) people to get a feeling for the game from a player. (I do this on XB1 and it has helped me buy or not buy games when I see ppl broadcasting via the xb store)
2) if a friend is at work, gives them something to watch and pester me with "damn you suck" "git gud" and "ahhaha yes! you DIED!" type comments :P
3) I am stoned or drunk and wonder if anyone will catch on. Mostly they just leave, a few have questioned if I'm mentally disabled though!
You're welcome & Thank you as well :)
Reading it back, the lack of knowing what to call it (dawned on me you called it "Lets Play!" so I now know) may have come off condescending, but I meant it as I honestly don't know because outside of Steam and Steam forums I don't really internet much.
I remember getting To the Moon and loving it, so I got my daughter to play it. Even though she ended up in tears she still says it's the best gaming experience she's had. Now when she asked all her friends about it, they all loved it. Only not one of them had bought it or played it. They'd all just watched some one else play it on Youtube.
They all said "Why would we buy it when we've watched it already". For small story driven games (or any short game) it's almost like giving the game away for free.
So that's my gripe millions of people watched To the Moon and couldn't care less about buying it. That's just wrong.
