Use bash to catapult them in a ballistic manner wherever the wall is you need to destroy. Which means that you use bash in a negative angle to lift them.
Might be that the game though you were out of cover (which you were at some point) and triggered Kuro, but Kuro got stuck. Maybe game kills enemy bash instantly because death scene should occur in the next split second.
Maybe things like restarting PC and game, check file integrity might have also helped. You just had bad luck, didn't witnessed something like this in my about 8 playthroughs on 2 PCs at this point.
