does the game become fun later on?
I have got a little more than 4 hours on this game.
I got to the part where you unlock double jumping.

I don't think it was worth the money.
it has some okay atmosphere and artstyle, the gameplay is okay but so far nothing special.
does this game have anything going for it that other metroidvanias don't have?

is the sequel any better?

I will say the next ability you gain is really unique and fun (Bash). One of the best abilities in the game imo.
The sequal is indeed more fun as it has actual combat.

this game has more the vibes of a parkour platformer and enigmas platformer than an action one, the seuqle greatly improves on the fight aspect. i sueggest to wait for sale if you didnt like first. but if you liked hollow knight you probalby will like the second game

I don't know what to say to this. I knew I had picked a winner within 5-10 minutes after the prologue was over. If there's nothing that you particularly hate or that infuriates you about the game, I don't see how it could not impress you. I haven't actually played Ori 2 yet, but Ori 1 is my second-favorite Metroidvania I've ever played.

It is not a bad game, so far it is okay.
But aside from the atmisphere it does not seem to have much going for it.

The world seems unecessarily large.
Am I suppossed to backtrack distances this big later on?

If you're playing Definitive Edition, you can warp between activated Spirit Wells, so it won't be as bad as it would have been without that. Otherwise, yeah. This isn't Metroid Fusion. The world is open enough for it to breathe.
