Stuck in misty woods after revisiting it

I went back to misty woods and saw I could turn the lantern off again, and I thought I missed something that is only reachable in the hazy version, so I went into it.

I combed the entire area like 8 times but it seems to me it's impossible to get out. I can get pretty close to the exit (map-wise) but there are no paths out.

Is there anything I'm missing? It this bugged? I found another thread with the same issue but it was unsolved.

This is really annoying because I haven't done mount huro yet..

normally if you just follow the path as you usually do you should get back out.
if not then if oyu havent used too many saves you can load up an older save from the mainmenu

I had no idea this feature existed, but I used tons of saves already..

Any idea how to get to the exit now?

Never tried to revisit Misty Woods but... what exactly stops you from going through it the same way as the first visit?

I have completed that mission

just follow directions that haven't been touched, use skills climb to clear that mission

I cleared the mission already..

This is one of like 10 oversights in the game involving the lanterns that leaves you with no options and breaks your save..the option to turn the lantern off/on is really unnecessary and it confused me too a couple of times.
Play Hollow Knight instead, it's much more competently made.

I just now opened a saved game and returned to Misty Woods. After deactivating the Shrouded Lantern I traveled leftward as I normally would to collect the first Keystone. After the landscape changes and dodging the owl through the downward twisty, travel to your immediate right instead of normally travelling left until you pass the two obnoxious green bullfrogs. Keep going further right, drop down when you see Atsu's Torch and pass through the gate you opened previously with the 4 Misty Woods Keystones. Travel further right and you'll exit. Freedom!

From where you're at in your 2nd picture, continue leftward as you normally would to open the Gate to Atsu's Torch. Then head to the right as you would normally exit and reactivate the Shrouded Lantern. Keep to the right and exit Misty Woods.

I suppose those that have complained about getting trapped in Misty Woods probably forgot to dead-end each traversal point before moving to the next one, in order to initiate the "change of scenery" by repeating the exact pattern and travel behavior they used previously in the game.

Ok, thank you for making me do it. It was fun to revisit the Misty Woods with all the abilities at hand. Also Misty Woods is not exactly the same as at the first run through it but only because you can take shortcuts - you still can trace your steps exactly if you wish. I made a video for you. Prove me wrong
Your location is illustrated at 5:30. And at 1:40 you can leave the forest early just by going right further.

Your opinion on the subject is not well informed. Original 2015 version of the game had no such an option and people were asking for full backtracking. So it is not an oversight but Moon Studios yielded and made Misty Woods revisitable exactly because people were asking for it.
