Regular or Definitive Edition first?
I couldn't find anything about this so sorry if theres already an answer but I was wondering if you're supposed to play the original before Definitive edition.

DE had all the content and story of the original edition, and thus playing the old one first is not necessary as you won't miss anything, except for those that are different between original and DE like some soundtracks and maybe something else.

There is no reason really to play the original above definitive.

After playing both the regular and the DE, I would recommend playing the regular first. The regular edition, to me, adds a sense of urgency, and I quite liked that. While in the DE, you can access everything in one playthrough, and I feel the game loses much of its replay value once you play the DE. Play the regular first, and then the DE for all the new goodies. But if you don't have time to play both, and want access to everything in one playthrough then the DE is the one you should choose.

In the original game, certain areas locked after you completed them; preventing you from accessing them afterwards. In the DE you'll be able to access all of these originally locked areas even after you complete them. Which to me, takes away a bit of the urgency I felt in the original game, but the DE is still an enjoyable experience.

The DE is more than just an added area. You can see the changes the devs made throughout the entire game. Certain areas are now locked, and you must use new abilites to open them. Certain dialogue changed, like before entering the final dungeon. It's definitely a different experience than the original game.

The only pro of the original edition is flawless fps. I have to play DE in low resolution, it's ok more or less, though sometimes it doesn't work either.

I haven't had any problems with my FPS or resolution. Smooth 60 at 1440.

Oh just play the Definitive. People clamor for the original every time something like this is done. They did it with Sleeping Dogs too even though the definitive version is leagues better in many areas.

Each game, the original and the DE, are treated as individual games in your Steam library so if you play the original you get achievements for the original version and if you play the DE then you get achievements for the DE. In short: yes, you have to play both if you want to get achievements from both games. Most of their achievements are same but the DE has a few more achievements that the original doesn't have. I'll give an example, I had got Elite achievement in the original Ori long time ago but when the DE came I had to do same thing to get Elite achievement in the DE too.
