Key rebinding and button remapping in Definitive Edition
Heya!

In the Definitive Edition, it's possible to rebind keyboard inputs and controller button mappings for directInput. We didn't get to build this into the game, but there are some .txt files that you can edit.

Mouse and Keyboard rebindings
Browse here in the file explorer:
%localappdata%/Ori and the Blind Forest DE/KeyRebindings.txt
An explanation is provided in the file.

DirectInput controller remapping
Browse here in the file explorer:
%localappdata%/Ori and the Blind Forest DE/ControllerButtonRemaps.txt
An explanation is provided in the file.

Note that these files will only be created after starting up the game at least once. If they do not show up for you, try starting the game and it will create them.

If you ever want to get rid of the rebinding that you did, you can delete these two files and restart the game after. The files will regenerate fully cleared and the game will return to the basic control scheme.

Hey fellas. For those of you that don't know the name of certain keys when rebinding use this reference: https://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/KeyCode.html
I confirm those are working for the numpad keys, at least (the ones I'm using).

I can't believe nowadays we have to still deal with games without proper remapping.

Hope it helps.

does anyone know what the names for : and > are? I checked this reference but they don't seem to be working when I put those in, the rest of my keybinds work fine. (I use a dvorak keyboard and would rather not have to switch to qwerty to be able to play)

I've no idea if this will make any difference, but given qwerty & dvorak layouts each have ; & : on the same key, likewise . & > on the same key, have you tried ; & . instead of : & > (the Unity keycodes being "Semicolon" & "Period")?

Hi! I can't find KeyRebindings.txt on my computer. I don't have folder "Ori and the Blind Forest DE", I've got "Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Ori" folder instead and there is no txt-files inside at all even in subfolders :steamsad:. I have got Windows 10 on my computer. Please help me with searching.

you have to go into your appdata folder, it's a hidden folder (if you dont know how to access that just look it up on google)

You can press win+r and copy-paste there "%localappdata%\Ori and the Blind Forest DE\" and it will open the folder for you.

This does not work, but this "%localappdata%\Ori and the Blind Forest" works and there is no txt files inside again. I've turned on flag "show hidden files" and checked this folder and folder "%localappdata%", so I am truly sure that I don't have folder "%localappdata%\Ori and the Blind Forest DE\".

Are you sure you downloaded the definitive edition and not the original version? The original version doesn't support rebinds, if I remember correctly.

Thank you for your help! It turned out that I really downloaded the wrong version.

I'm trying to rebind dash to right click, I've tried Mouse0-4
Does it just not work?

Right mouse click is Mouse1. Make sure to change Activate Key Rebinding from False to True, and also check for syntax errors. If you're still having issues, you can copy-paste the file here and I can take a look.
thank you!

I'm trying to rebind my controls, but it's not working with my Nintendo Switch controller.
I did everything correctly in the .txt file - I even double-checked with rebinding a keyboard key, and that was working fine, so it's just Switch Pro controllers that seem to be the issue.
I don't know if there's a solution for this, but after first playing this on the switch, I want to make my controls the same, but the .txt file doesn't read switch controllers for some reason.

Does anyone know of a way around this so I can use my switch controller with rebound controls or a fix?
Thanks in advance!

The controller rebinding doesn't work well. I'd highly recommend using the Steam rebinding feature.
