Heya!

This topic is intended as an issue tracker for people to easily find common issues and their potential fixes. They will be listed as follows:

List of issues: (I'll be adding more as I get more reports)

When buying DE, Steam tells me I already own one or more of the items included in my cart
- This is probably because you already own the original release. When buying DE, it automatically gives everyone access to the original version as well.

I can't buy gifts of DE
- We had to disable gifts for now, because of a loophole where people were able to buy gifts for very cheap. We're working with Valve to find a solution to this.

There are no trading cards or badges for DE
- We're still working on trading cards, and we'll put them in as soon as they're ready :)

Game crashes right at startup
- Try to Verify Integrity of Game Cache (right click the game in Steam library -> properties -> local files -> verify integrity of game cache).
- In the Steam launch options (right click the game in Steam library -> properties -> set launch options), fill in "-force-d3d9" or just "-d3d9" (try the second one if the first doesn't work).
- If you have a Razer headset, try unplugging that. The game has issues with the Razer audio device.

Game crashes at a random point in the game
- Try to Verify Integrity of Game Cache (right click the game in Steam library -> properties -> local files -> verify integrity of game cache).

Performance and framerate are bad / worse than when I played the original version
- Try switching the options for vsync and fullscreen.
- (mostly for laptops with NVIDIA cards) Try go to your nVIDIA control panel and enable *graphics card name* for all applications, or for just Ori DE.

Game doesn't start on primary monitor in multi monitor setup
- For now, this can be fixed by using Winkey + Shift + Arrow keys to move the window to correct monitor..

Game won't go to <resolution>
- Try disabling the display scaling on high DPI setting through the compatibility properties on the game's .exe
- If you've just changed the screen that the game's showing on (see the issue just below this one), try to restart the game. It'll rebuild the list of possible resolutions.
- Try the Windows compatibility mode to run the game

Game doesn't start on the right monitor, I want to switch screens
- Try the key combination Alt+Enter to make the game non-full screen, move the window to your preferrred screen, and press Alt+Enter again.
- Alternatively, try the key combination Winkey+Shift+Arrow keys.

No achievements / no leaderboards ("no internet connection")
- Try to Verify Integrity of Game Cache (right click the game in Steam library -> properties -> local files -> verify integrity of game cache).

Ori keeps running to the left when I don't press anything
- Try unplugging any other controllers / steering wheels / joysticks from your computer and restart the game.

Controller doesn't work at all, or only works on the "press any key" screen
- Try unplugging any other controllers / steering wheels / joysticks from your computer and restart the game.
- Try disabling any software that creates virtual controllers, like joytokey or betterDS3.
- Disable any remote desktop software, in particular Kinoni.

Game doesn't have any sound / audio
- If you have a Razer headset, try unplugging that and restart the game. The game has issues with the Razer audio device. You'll need to use a different headset / speakers.
- There seems to be an issue with the Steam Link. It uses an audio driver that's not compatible with Unity's FMOD, or something like that. We're not quite sure :/

It's not a bug. The game supports all ratios between 16:9 and 21:9, and 16:10 is taller than that. I'm afraid you'll have to live with the black bars.
Not sure what you mean by non-changing resolution, the game should immediately adapt to the resolution you choose. However if you only choose 16:10 resolutions, the change might not be noticeable

What max resolution does the game support? I can't get 2560x1440 (16:9) to work. Thanks.

Edit: I managed to fix it. The game needs to launch on your 1440p monitor for it to show up as a resolution. If the game launches on the non-primary and you use Win Key + Shift + Arrow Key to move it to the 1440p monitor, the resolution won't show (for me at least).

The game starts on my second monitor which is 1600x900. I can easily swap it to the other monitor, but I don't have the option to change the resolution up to 1080p. The highest option I can select is 1600x900.z

EDIT: Nevermind, the option shows up now. False alarm!

Not sure if this an issue with the game. But it's saying 'failed to retrieve data' at title screen. All the slots are empty.

Hmm, that's not a good sign. Did you create saves before (on DE, that is - it won't take saves from the original game), and now they're gone?

I have a 2560x1440 monitor and for some reason I couldn't select this resolution in the game. I found a solution here:

1. Locate the .exe file in \steamapps\common\Ori (default location is C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common)
2. Right click and select properties in the drop down menu
3. Select the "compatibility" tab
4. Check disable display scaling on high DPI setting.
5. Click Ok, and you're all set!

The solution was for the older version, but it worked for me in the definitive edition!

Try making a new save game on a save slot that you didn't use before, make sure to save the game (soul flame), and see if that stays after restarting. If it stays, your save from before is probably corrupted and you'll have to do it over. If it disappears, maybe try running the game as administrator

I am encountering a bug upon trying to start the story. The intro attempts to start. The sound files begin to repeat over and over and everything stutters until the game pauses itself and wont unpause anymore. Any fix for this? Already verified integrity of game cache, now trying to re-download.

Tried both of these, same message stil appearing at title screen and file not there. Tried new file and running as admin.

I already have the original version, and just bought the Definitive for me. Since march 11th, I waited this release to make a birthday gift to a friend, but today I can only buy it for me... (special offer : 5€, which was already the price announced for the original version owners, wow).

Why can't I buy this version for someone else ?
There is only the "special offer" link, and none for offering (even at full price). Is it a bug on Steam ?

Yeah, we had to close down gifts on DE, because people were buying them for $5 using the discount - but that discount shouldn't be active for gifts. We'll put it back up as soon as this loophole is fixed :)
