Is this better to play with a controller?
I'm wondering if this is one of those games that's easier to play with a controller than a keyboard.

Definitely!!!

Best way to play this game = Controller!
I would always play "Metroidvania"-like Games with a Controller!

Ah, thanks a bunch! It felt a bit awkward with the keyboard. but since this is a different genre than what I usually play, I wasn't sure if it was just me.

I think majority will agree that with controller it is more handy, but it is not bad at all with keyboard+mouse for a lot of people too. I prefer playing with Keyboad+Mouse despite played this game with a controller. Maybe my controller is mediocre or I just use it very rarely for it to become handy to me.

Platformers are usually games I would definitely invest a controller for. In fact, if you haven't already picked a controller up I definitely would. Other genres such as third person action rpgs really benefit from controller too (think dark souls or monster hunter).

I much prefer keyboard. No delay between left and right. Much easier access to all of ori's abilities are far better precision with aimed things like bash.

Only thing a controller is actually good for is snake pass. Maybe anti gravity racing games. But even then, I think id prefer a joystick.

About it (curious).
You using gamepad for PC2 and ACC or FFB wheel?

I have a T30RS GT. But before that I used to play PC2 with mouse steering. Way better than a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ thumbstick.

I played Ori on gamepad (PS4 controller) and did 1st run on hard with 100% secrets at all areas in 15h (without 100% would have been around 10h to 12h) with stick, but Celeste with pad arrows for extra precision and faster reactions when changing directions.

It all goes with preference for these games like Ori and Celeste (but for simracing I have a G29 and if it break I will not go back to gamepad, I also never used mouse steering, keyboard only at PC2 and AC at that time, but I used the PS4 gyro to make the whole gamepad as steering wheel and after that, G29).

Its not preference. Different parts of your body have different levels of precision than others. Yes you can get really good at even ♥♥♥♥♥♥ input methods. But your potential attainable skill will be higher with better input methods.

100 hr experience with a gamepad on PC2 you will not perform as well as someone with 100hr experience with a wheel. But 1000 experiance with gamepad vs 100 on wheel? Yeah gamepad person will likely do better. But then 1000 vs 1000? Goes right back to wheel. Why? Its an objectively better input method.

I meant I used gamepad and keyboard for PC2 and AC, but that it is preference when it comes to games like Ori and Celeste, not that it is exactly the same with gamepad or FFB wheel for simulators, it is not (and it is way harder to find the limits and have smoothness+precision with a gamepad than what it is with FFB wheel and not only because of the total lack of FFB on gamepad but because the range of input is much smaller resulting in less smoothness and less precision).

yes, definitely, use a controller
