Keyboard and mouse?
Is this one of those platformers that requires a controller or can I get by with the keyboard and mouse? I have a controller shoved off in a box somewhere, but I really don't want to dig it out.

Keyboard and mouse worked perfectly okay for me. In fact I think one of the mechanics you'd see ingame worked better with mouse instead of controller.

Great. That's exactly what I was hoping for. Thanks!

Which one? I am curious.
Bash is almost trivially easy to aim with mouse, but I've had no experience of gamepad after Famicom ones.

I wouldn't play this with a mouse and keyboard unless you really hate yourself. I normally never play with a controller, but I made an exception this once for this game. However, due to the fact that it's a Microsoft Studios game, you're almost forced the use an XBone controller. Even using a PS4 controller (natively supported in Steam) with remaps from Steam, the remaps for the buttons didn't stick. The game itself has no remap options. It's the one really bad thing about the game. Besides the constant punishement of players.... but that's for another thread..

I would beg to differ, but I haven't played anything with a controller in the last 10 years, but I wasn't bothered by interface difficulty in this game for long - Or any significant difficulty after the first playthrough at least on normal difficulty, for that matter.

We'll just see how things work out for the OP when/if they get the game, shall we?

Even if you can't rebind the controls, the keyboard configuration is very intuitive, so much that I found myself using it in other games too. They clearly knew what they were doing when they set it up.

TL;DR Keyboard and mouse works, I recomend over controller

I've played Ori extensivly on both PC and XBox, using both KBM and controller, and I can say I prefer KBM FAR more than I do controller. There are a lot of mechanics that feel much more "natural" while using the mouse, and aiming/accuracy in this game benifits greatly from the mouse. I feel as if the KBM beats controller in every aspect in this game, apart from later on in the game, where you have to input multiple commands at a time, very quickly, and doing that is a bit easier/comfier using a controller. But this is all my personal preference. Try both, and decide for yourself!
