Basically, we decided to improve the best part of the game rather than tack on something mediocre.
"Single Player Puzzle Adventure Mode
Playing alone? That’s okay, we’ll be your friend. Try our story puzzle mode, where you can explore new worlds and find new friends. The levels become increasingly difficult as you're presented with more challenging platforming tasks and you need to find ways to use dangerous blocks to your advantage. You'll have to reach the finish with only the platforms we provide for you, specially tailored to make each level solvable in many ways, some easier than others."
I don't ever play multiplayer games and was excited that this would have a SP mode.
I feel like I was misled. I don't recall any KS update telling us you were pulling a promised mode.
Oh well, the game looked fun. Hopefully someone will put out a SP game like it in the future.

and a little in this Kickstarter post:

Looking back on it we certainly should have said more about that, so I apologize for that.
It's annoying that the SP isn't happening, but we felt (and so did fans / players) that it wasn't the true UCH experience. We thought that if someone wanted to play alone they'd play online. We still plan on making that the core of the "alone" experience, hopefully introducing matchmaking later if we have the community to support it.
Sorry again, hope you guys will still enjoy!
I know it's not the same thing, but a way to have a "single player" is to either build your own maps in the free mode, save them and run them yourself, or go through maps loaded into the game's Online from other players that have made random maps.
I hope this shines some light!
