noob question

just bought the game got the hang of most of it but and ive looked everywhere prob seen it but missed it buuut how do i type in chat =.=

T on keyboard, then type what you want to say and hit enter.
There is also emotes, if you use the 1-4 keys.

appreciated ^_^ btw i assume it doesnt matter what mode you play to unlock stuff ?

I'm pretty sure you can unlock new items in any mode, I've done it local and online, and they both have worked for unlocking new items.
I think I've also seen boxes in creative mode too, but I can't remember for sure.

KLJF22 is correct. Unlock works in all modes equally well. Be sure to play all the new levels that you get.

Also, on a controller hold left trigger and use the right stick to send emotes.
