Resolution on windows 10
I have an issue with the resolution of the game. I am not able to adjust it. I am getting the error

Switching to resolution 1920x1080 failed, trying lower one
Switching to resolution 1920x1080 failed, trying lower one
All resolution switches have failed
Screen: could not switch resolution (1920x1080 fs=1 hz=0)

My screen support it, and a lower resolution dose not help. Changing to window mode does not help. I am running the newest AMD drivers (ReLive), and I suspect that is it. I also tried running the game under windows 7 compatibility mode. No change. I tried going to to a previous driver via device manager, and the error persisted (but I did not restart).

I am able to set the resolution manually using the launch options, but that is not preferred

All files were verified.

Help?.

Hmmm... Not exactly sure of a good solution, but I would try the instructions below to clear out the registry data related to the game. It allows the graphics options to be completely reset by the game on the next startup.

This solution it involves deleting the Unity Game preferences from the Windows registry. These registry entries don't get changed when you reinstall the game, so deleting them and forcing them to be remade might help fix your problem.

Be extremely careful when doing registry edits. Make a backup before these changes to protected your self against mistakes: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows/back-up-registry#1TC=windows-7

We're going to try to delete the player preferences installed to your registry by our game, then restart the game. So:

1. Press the Windows key
2. Type "regedit" and Registry Editor should pop up... click on that. It might ask for administrator permission.
3. On the left side, open the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" folder, then "SOFTWARE", then "Clever Endeavour Games" as shown in this image http://imgur.com/9JCxbBK
4. Right click on "Ultimate Chicken Horse" and press delete. It'll ask if you want to delete all keys, press yes.
5. Next time you start the game this folder will rebuild itself, and it might fix the problem you are having.

Please let us know if this fixes your problem.

It kind of worked. The resolution was set to the full screen. But when I tried to adjust it to window mode (to see if I could make some changes) it gave generally the same error.

Switching to resolution 1920x1080 failed, trying lower one
All resolution switches have failed
Screen: could not switch resolution (1920x1080 fs=0 hz=0)

If you have any other questions as to what my system is running, or any other recommendations, I am open. I am also running the new version of MSI Afterburner and RiviaTunder Stastics for on screen display (no over clocking) in case that is know to cause some issues.

I believe the game requests the resolutions that it can use from the Graphics drivers. From the looks of it "1920x1080 fs = 0 hz = 0" seems like a kinda corrupted resolution as hz should always be something liek 60 or 59.9 or 50 hz. Not zero. Have you made some custom resolutions using graphic driver options? Not sure what fs is, but I would also assume that shouldn't be 0.

I figured it out. one some other site, somebody said they turned off the steam overlay, and it worked. I tried it on this game, and it worked correctly. I was able to change the resolution, and window mode. It must be an issue with something in my drivers. It is very odd. Thank you for your quick responses, I do appreciate it.

Glad you found a solution.

Hi, I know this is an old post but I'm having the same issue, except that on launch it gives crash report

Switching to resolution 0x0 failed, trying lower one
Switching to resolution 0x0 failed, trying lower one
All resolution switches have failed
Screen: could not switch resolution (1024x768 fs=1 hz=0)

I think the issue is in the "hz=0" part. When in regedit I can change full screen to 0 and when I launch it, it just gives me a black screen. I saw you said that the hz=0 part might be problematic, but there was no fix I think in that post. I think the 0x0 part is strange too, the resolution can't be 0x0. I've tried all the fixes listed here in this discussion but nothing works. This only happens on my new computer, I just got it yesterday. Please help, I love to play this game!
