Getting frustrated because I don't have access to the wardrobe / costumes / closet

My girlfriend showed me that the upstairs area in the house is supposed to be a wardrobe. Well My wardrobe is draped over with sheets and I can't access anything there. There's no indication of how to unlock it and I can't imagine what it is because my girlfriend and I both got the game at the same time and have only played it together. Any help appreciated.

Just like how you unlock maps, you unlock the wardrobe in the same way: collecting Mystery boxes

Is that really how? That's surprising. I'm pretty confident my gf didn't get a mystery box with a wardrobe in it but it is possible that I missed it. If so then I guess I'll be patient. I don't think that it's wise for them to have the wardrobe as an unlock but still let you receive costume unlocks when you can't access the wardrobe. I have only played a little bit though so maybe I unlock it soon. Thanks for the reply Weegee.

Hey there, so once you've unlocked your first costume, the curtains are taken off the wardrobe. You might only have one item accessible, but it shouldn't ever show the curtains again unless you reset your progress. What might be happening, however, is that you unlock something for another player. In online play, a box can appear and unlock an item for only one player in the game, so you may have thought it was unlocked for you? If you see a question mark on one of the maps in the Treehouse Lobby and play that level, there should be a thing to unlock in it.

Hey RichardAtlas, thanks for replying. You were correct, I actually unlocked the crown for my girlfriend (even though I hit the box). I didn't realize that who gets the box doesn't matter. I am now jealous of her Racrown but at least I have a Mohawk on my Chicken which now gave me access to the wardrobe. Thanks, again. By the way, great game, I'll give it a full review once I have more time played. Although the game was gifted to me and I think under new rules that means my review won't count, but oh well.
