How does one obtain water?

How do you go about getting water for cooking and such?

stand in the water and forage for it you get like 5 buckets some fish etc too

That has not worked since 8.015 or 8.016. To get water, craft a bucket (look in the Furniture crafting tab) and then right click the bucket while standing in water to fill it.

any shortcut or auto function to fill water to buckets ? very annoying to click one by one....

If you have a stack of empty buckets you should have the option to fill them all when right clicking in water.

I've found an anomaly I had never seen before today and it was a destroyed city which was absolutely amazing in terms of resources. I've found plenty of bottle here, including wine as well as coke cans! Took me a while to figure out the water as foraging on the shore did not get me any.

Foraging for water stopped in 8.015 or 016...see above. I do recall one of the updates (same one) saying byou could use bottles to refill with water as well.

In that same city you can forage the fire hydrants for water. It is directly deposited into your inventory as H2O

to get water walk into it press E to fill. If you have empty bottles in you inventory hit i to open it right click on the bottles pick" fill all" then your done.
