Why are there so many darn escorting missions in this game? The units that you need to protect can take very little damage and with the lack of checkpoints you need to restart from the beginning every time you fail. I liked this game at first, but all the escorting ruins it completely.

Hi Smurky,

there are only 3 missions with big and difficult escort sections. Which mission are you especially struggeling with? Probably the Space Station mission "Nuclear Heist"? I might tune up the vehicles HP a bit if you give me a hint.

I just got two new missions to play and they are the Nuclear Heist one and the junkyard researchers one. Both feel like torture to play, though the Nuclear one takes the cake with that bridge section.

Alright. I upped the HP of the nuclear core transporter and those hotheaded scientists. I also adjusted the mission order slightly to allow for a more diverse mission selection around your progress.

Thank you for the very quick response. I am curious though, what was the reason for introducing escorting quests? It is such a different pace compared to most of the other missions.

It's mainly about objective diversity. But you only have to complete 15 missions to unlock all missions with most of the escort missions being optional if you manage to complete everything else. I believe out of all 20 missions you only would have to face 3 missions that are partly escort objective to complete the campaign.

Also the second half of the campaign does feature way less escort missions so it seems. From your 10th completed mission on you should be fine.

Let me know what you think about the improvements as soon as the game updated.

I can see how it increases diversity, although escorting targets with limited controls while having no checkpoints in fairly long missions can tend to be very frustrating. I just beat the last non escort mission I had left and unlocked the Snowball one as a result, the longest escort mission yet. It is good to hear that the latter half features way less of them, but at this point and time the only three missions I have left are all escort ones.

I will keep a look out for the patch.

I thank you for the fast response Zax, but I have requested a refund. Even with balance changes lengthy missions that consist entirely of escorting targets while there being no checkpoints at all is too much. With lots of attemps one can predict what to do where, but that does not sound appealing to me in the slightest, especially with there being several of those missions.

Could we maybe have an escort mission that involves, say, reaching three dispersed waypoints, with the game saving mission progress each time you reach a waypoint? If "inter-mission" checkpoints isn't something the game engine supports, then I guess maybe that wouldn't be doable.

i have to agree that any game with escort missions would benefit greatly from having checkpoints otherwise the frustration factor can overcome the fun factor.
This is also true for any games that have timed missions.

I thought it was generally known/accepted in gaming that 'escort missions' aren't widely liked, to put it politely? Makes me hesitant to get this, seems like a lot of people get tired of the gameplay because the achievements- you can see at what point most people are quitting. I may look up some gameplay video to see for myself.

Hey zax,

I see the game is on sale. Has any thought been given to the checkpoints? The game looks otherwise great, but the repeating & frustration of replaying whole missions due to a lack of checkpts stopped my purchase in it's tracks. Is there any chance of checkpoints being added in this game or have you stopped working on it? Thanks. :ai_wormhole:

(If you make an A.I. Invasion 2, with checkpoints or manual saves, it sounds like a sure thing, to me). :) :drover:
