Crashes every time
On first boot, I managed to press Esc during the intro movie & have it go to the Main Menu without crashing. I managed to look at the settings, turn off motion blur & run the Benchmark to completion. I clicked New Game & it crashed.

Second boot - press Esc during the intro movie & it crashed.

Third boot - let the intro movie run all the way through, hoping it would end in the main menu & not be a looping video & I got to the main menu; went to fill in the Product Registration just in case the crashes were due to some Product Key thing & by the time I'd gotten to the Date Of Birth field, it crashed.

Fourth Boot - let the intro movie run all the way through & it crashed prior to getting to the Vendetta screen with the crow.

Fifth Boot - got past the intro screen with the crow & it faded to black, but instead of coming up from the black to the main menu; it crashed.

I do like the intro video, it makes me think there is a game here to play; can anyone offer me some help as to how to do that?

I've verified the integrity of the game cache & it came back fine; I've tried launching it from both inside Steam & also just launching the game from its Windows directory, still with crashes resulting.

Running:
Windows 8.1 64-bit
i7-4790k 4ghz
AMD Radeon R9 200 8gig

Strange issue indeed. Game runs totally fine on my side.
Win 10 Professional x64
i5-4570 @ 3.2GHz
16GB Ram
NVIDIA 970GTX

No crashes, newest drivers, DX9.0c up to date.
Yeah, I've had games not like pressing Esc during intro videos before but nothing like this.

It took me an nearly an hour to get this game running for me.

Each time it would freeze up while starting and not even the task manager could kill the (not responding) process. I had to restart my PC with every freeze.

I eventually got it started when I turned off DSR in the Nvidia control panel. I'm not entirely sure if that was the cause as I did do several other things as well, but it might be worth a try just the same.

Could it be the steam overlay? have you tried disabling it?

Just tried that now, still got crashes using escape to skip the intro movie & letting it run to the end.

I also got the 'Freeze up that Task Manager couldn't kill' that Spazfrag mentioned, but I thought that might have been to do with the fact that I had pressed the ~ key & brought up the dev console/text command box during the intro movie & freaked it out.

I don't seem to have VSR which I think is AMD's eqiuvalent to DSR, turned on, so that probably isn't it for me, unfortunately.

Possibly pointless re-downloading for me.

I had several CTDs while ship fights. The sound disappeared. With disabling EAX all works fine.
Reinstalled; still crashes. At least it is generating crashdump mdmp files now; didn't notice it doing that when I had it installed the first time.

Did notice when I went to the Local Files & tried the Select Monitor link, it said that it couldn't find the D:\VCR/Game_PC\VCR.exe path, which would make sense as that isn't a path where Steam installs. So I made that path & copied all the game files into it, then the Select Monitor link would work & allow me to boot the game but it also crashes either by pressing escape in the intro movie or by letting it run though to the end.

At the moment I have 30 minutes of game time clocked up that is literally just seeing if the game won't crash this time.

Anyone know the best way to get in contact with the Dev & maybe send them these crashdump files?

Did you try to switch of the Steam Overlay? - please send crash dumps to: support@topware.com
UnimaginativeHandle Nov 21, 2015 @ 11:46pm
Yeah, disabled the Steam Overlay during my first install.
I'll try it again now just in case.

I'll send the crash reports over, thank you.

Evidently, my second install defaulted to not having Steam Overlay enabled. So I've gotten crashes 3 times with Steam Overlay enabled & now 7 without it enabled.

Do you have the crash at start during the coin appears or before? Do you hear any sound before the crash?
UnimaginativeHandle Nov 22, 2015 @ 12:11am
No the intro bit with the coin always plays, if I press Escape at any point i will get the main menu music for about a second or two before it goes black & I get the Windows box with 'Vendetta encountered a problem'.

If I let the intro movie with coin play through all the way to the logo with the crow with the Vendetta text, the same second or two of music & then crash.

If it helps, I believe the first time when I actually got to the menu, I believe the settings I changed were only setting Motion Blur to 0 & then I ran the Benchmark which set the graphic settings to High, then New Game crashed it & I've never gotten to the Main Menu since.

Do you use Raptr? I had a very similar issue with the new Assassin's Creed - crashed every time at launch - that I was able to fix simply by disabling the Raptr overlay...

Can you set your Radeon driver to the settings of Two Worlds II?
