Changing to a gaijin account

So initially i started playing the game using steam to log in. I do have a gaijin account which i used for warthunder in the past. If i lock in with that gaijin account will my steam progress be copied to my gaijin account or will i have to start fresh?

Why you don't link your Steam account to your Gaijin account. This will support you with synchronization:

This drives me crazy. I can't buy the Season Pass at all because I can't buy it through Steam and yet I can't link the account because it claims my email adress is already in use. This problem has been persistent for years now, why can't gaijin fix it

And when I try to link my name now it gives me a Russian menu

I can't buy the Season Pass at all because I can't buy it through Steam and yet I can't link the account because it claims my email adress is already in use.

Sounds for me, that you have already a Gaijin-Account.
