Low population makes it not possible to play low 'tier' matches, 'high tier' matches comes too soon in a medium PS scaling.

The real scaling we need is:

Low = 0~3000
Medium = 3000~5000
High = 5000+.

This means all weapons and armors that are faction related should scale up in PS by +50%, some more so than others, and weapons are scaled up much more by their rarity (purple and gold weapons would be at least 1000 and 2000 PS respectively for ranged weapons, and 800 and 1200 for melee weapons).

This way people don't simply bring a mammoth cannon on a heavily built tank into a 3000-4000 PS match, as the weapon would scale up even higher into the 'high' matchmaking. To bring it into the low you'd need to basically give up on armor.

Or maybe we need more 'differentiating' factors into the 'class' of a tank based on weight?

This way matchmaking isn't based on Power Score, but based on 'mass'?

You could have 'light / medium / heavy' vehicles with indicators showing their significance on the scoreboard, so players learn to support one another properly instead of sending several light vehicles up against a army of heavy vehicles.

Gauging how effective a enemy is by their PS alone isn't enough. This is why games like WoT and WT uses 'classes' like 'light/medium/heavy/TD/SPG' etc.

aah ye this soundes nice,, both of them ideas, i like that , and no ♥♥♥♥♥♥ players then still to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ even with superior weaponry, but atm its a hard waste land out there with few choises, want to build something cool ? forget it , to high ps and low wepons aginst elite etc

Then that is a bug. As I said, the Starter is 789 PS. If it's showing as 3k PS, you need to contact support ASAP. Why? The game is about to go Open Beta within 1-3 months. This needs to be fixed before that time.
I'm sorry I think I'm confusing everyone.

I have my own build a few of them some upwards of 4800ps but this is using all basic stuff as rewarded with levels. All white Commons and filling 55 parts. My best weapon would be the sledge hammer shotgun (not even sure how I got them)

So when I was able to reach 3k and play in actual pvp (not basically all bots) I was getting crushed just smashed. Now I would survive and take some hits so I thought defensively i was decent but taking shots from these auto cannons, mini guns, rocket launchers, homing missles... all purple and orange and occasionally just being one shot pwned.

So after many matches of this not helping my team because my damage output was not up to par and just hoping my team wins, I decided to reload starter car bp and try to farm better gear so I can craft better items so I can compete. When I did this I was still running into people with these crazy weapons not available to me yet.

That is the issue I'm having. And I wonder if it hasn't been an issue before to some of the players who have been around because population and the Match maker hadn't been tested like this till it went live on steam.

Sorry for spelling punctuation phone posting

same problem here, i didd grind alot , but it went to a stop not that meny levels in, but i still had fun until i went and said ♥♥♥♥ it i need that tank cannon :P some extra coins fell my way and i got some extra wepons also, but then it got a little stale sins i diddent have parts or armour etc to add to it, so im hoping for a fix to it not to far in the future :) maby itwill come wen the wipe comes i dont know , but i hope :) so its not a loss i still keep my stuff and i play some inbetween :)

What was your PS at the time? It should be +/- about 1k PS... for now... eventually the margin will decrease.

For the record, it took me a bit to figure-out how double-layered armor around the cabin worked... it increased by survivability drastically... but 1-2 shot deaths/kills still happen occasionally at all tiers.

EDIT: I had a free CBT key without any packs... I think I made it to about rank 12, and just crafted my first blue missile launcher to replace my faithful old white 76mm cannon... damn straight I was clubbing seals at low-level while my OP cannon would 1-shot them attempting to drive around using their flippers. My max PS was around 2.8K. :P

while you are not wrong, that still do not count towords elite wepons on 3-4 K cars, wen others still have blue, and by that i mean i build a 2.5K car and lets say 2 blue shotguns aginst purpal wepons, how is that eny fair ? yes one can argue this and that but in the end new players can only progress up to a point, and for me at least im stuck aginst even elite orange wepons, that mini gun phuuue, shreads the tail smoke rigth off ya

I agree that the PS of certain weapons should be raised, however not all purple weapons are better than blues.

In fact, somebody had run the damage potential numbers, and it seems that for the ammo quantity and accuracy of the weapons, the Scorpion technically did more damage consistently than a Hurricane. I have seen Hurricane's in action (and used against me) and I have a Scorpion, and so far from my experience I would rather have the precision and and fast strike of a double rocket launcher at my current PS level.

Honestly, I have not gotten far enough into the game (I only have so much time to play... I'm on the forums a lot at work lol), but my understanding is that many of the weapons are balanced in this way, especially considering the ease of getting some of them.

Also, I hate to say it, but no matter how you look at it, paying players will progress faster and players that progress faster WILL have better equipment at all tiers... players will ALWAYS be able to go down a few tiers with better equipment, and the fact that you can use those equipment is a sign that is meant to be part of the game. Low-tier stuff is particularly fast to get past, but higher-level stuff takes a bit more grinding typically... if you can call it that in a fast-paced game with tons of explosions. <_<
yeah ps is messed up you can have a light car with 1 starter machine gun and go up against rockets and all sorts :( it needs to be based on weapons alone

The thing is, other than the light machine guns, cannon, and shotgun, the other parts requires you to play PVP to get them and you have to get a reasonable score to get them.

If atm 80% of the opposition are veteran players, your odds of progressing to get good parts is slim to none.

Hopefully at Open Beta they add in more stuff you can craft at base engineer faction, with increasing scrap metal cost and probably a level requirement.

This is to bypass the issue of not getting item loots in any match because people are far too overequipped than you.

I mean it's possible to spend 300 scraps on a DIY crate to hopefully get a part that is not craftable by a engineer, but you mostly will get the same thing over and over again rather than other 'white' rarity stuff like minivan or the WT cabin.

Plus the amount of scrap metal to make one is a lot. Selling the scrap metal alone might give you enough cash to buy those white rarity goods.

If both sides have equal numbers of veterans, it is still very possible to get loot in a match with roughly a 50%/50% of winning the match. A new player who has very little play time is not supposed to be equal to or better than somebody with upgraded equipments, however that aspects adds a purpose TO get those upgrade equipments for the new player and satisfaction of then having an advantage in a match. Note: I said "equal to or better than" as opposed to "competitive"... because no matter what is said here, my only upgraded (blue) weapon so far is a single Scorpion, and I got to level 12 and a 2.8K PS with only white gears as a purely "F2P" player.

I do think that the match making system may need some tweaks to make sure teams are not just based on PS, but individual player stats to help balance the 'quality' players per team, not just who is in a certain PS rating, however there will absolutely always be somebody better than you in any MMO. I would hardly say that I was ever completely useless in a match even with just basic gears up to roughly a 2.8K PS. I had no trouble farming multiple cannons or any piece of equipment up to my current PS level, even if I did not win 100% of the time. My tactics were to stay behind the "Pack" cars at a distance and use a 76mm to snipe, often 1-shotting other players. I have tried other builds with shotguns and machine guns, however the 76mm has been my favorite... then again, I always love the slow HUGE caliber tanks/guns in other games, so cannon sniping is nothing new to me... neither is using it at point-blank range if I have to. >:D

I don't know, maybe I'm just an old lobby-based MMO nerd that has been through the early "grind" enough times that it does not bother me. Whenever I see somebody with what seems to be an "OP" weapon, I just think "oh, cool! I'm getting one of those too! *evil laugh*".. then I get that weapon and learn that it's nowhere as good, and go with something else that works better for my play style. I tend to learn the most just by watching how other player builds perform and how those players use them to kill other players... then copy them if needed. :steamhappy:

EDIT: I have about 10-12 hours in the game total up to this point... I did that over some vacation days about a week ago. I had a Gaijin key, so unfortunately Steam does not track my progress or when I last played. 10-12 hours to get to Rank 12 casually in an MMO, craft a Scorpion, and generally have a fun time in short matches is not horrible imho.

Cannon cars works until they start using epic weapons against your team, or constantly pick off your team with ridiculous builds.

Basically, it seems to be 1-2 players that turns things around, and really stomp the whole team hard.

What could work is making all weapons require ammo, so even if they are all-powerful, they can't last forever spraying and killing everyone.

For instance making grenade launchers consume ammo would be a pretty big change and stop them from spraying them into the air to 'guess' where you are.

Giving them 40/60/80 rounds per turret would do.
Machine guns start at the hundreds of rounds, maybe even on a 'time' based ammo like 60 seconds worth of shooting. And ammo boxes should add to guns that now requires ammo.

By giving guns 'lesser' ammo and providing ammo boxes, you could split the main PS gain between 'low ammo powerful guns' and 'high ammo cheap guns'.

Honestly, I never really got why grenade launchers do not require ammo... seems like it's one of the few weapons that really needs that limitation applied to it.

The Hurrican's PS alone costs over twice of that of the Starter. There's no possible way you queued with someone using the Hurrican while you were in the Starter. You MUST be referring to the Pyre. In which case, someone can slap on a Starter cabin, 4 Starter wheels and 2 frames with the Pyre and come out to 784 PS while the Starter is 789. Mind you that they will only have 6 rounds of ammo and would be as fragile as glass. It's also worth noting that the Pyre is garbage. I would even go as far as saying that it's the worst weapon in the game, unless you use it as a secondary at very high PS where you also have a decent primary. It's nearly impossible to hit anyone, cannot hit anyone at close range and when you manage to hit, it can do as low as like 10-15 damage, which is the equivalent of tapping a MG. You also need to waste PS to get yourself a sight or else it won't be able to lock-on to targets at far ranges, which is a must, because it also won't hit anything at close ranges as I said.

No, I was in matches with people with 3k score. The match maker is either currently bugged or I am unlucky as hell

MM has been "buggy" since I bought in to this game in April. Which means, it's not bugged at all. It's working as intended.

Welcome to Gaijin gaming.

Really? Because that was the point... it seems you are stating different rules apply to you than to me when it comes to the MM. How convenient to brush-off other people's experiences when they don't prove your point.
The point is the MM is configured in a VERY particular way for VERY particular reasons; this is how Gaijin likes their titles, whether they are the publisher AND dev (War Thunder) or just the publisher holding the purse strings (Crossout). Your anecdotal experiences do not change this. At all.

Well this is a different game then their other titles when it comes to MM. all I can say is that it has made me move on. Not because it's to hard or unfair it's because it's not fun. It's not fun to q for a level 1 mission to get basic parts In order to upgrade and be utterly owned by orange missles. Even the bots have them. It just sucked the fun right out of it. Ya sure I guess I could buy a purple on the market and intentionally lower my PS with a crazy weapon to own the new players. But that also is not fun
For me. So to each their own. Check it out on next content update.
