- "Threats" likely just come up because Gaijin account uses Torrent network to distribute game files on P2P basis, which most online security sees as fraudulent by default.
- Folders being "scattered through out your files" seem rather arbitrary. A lot of games have separate storage profiles, for example to stora save files separately to be kept safe if you uninstall the game, or roaming data folder to keep user-specific data separate from the game's framework, etc.
- Is my computer infected? No.
- Does Malwarebyte flagging false positive? Not in my practice of using it for 5 years.
- Does antivirus stopping the game from launch? No, but it blocks the launcher from doing something shady.
Something to think about: Why it doesnt happen EVERY launch of the game, but only sometimes.
Cheers.
any time you connect to any server, be it for multiplayer in any game, or any website: they get your ip.
or any peer to peer fileshare or matchmaking (like old call of duty? yeah you could log the IP's of all the users in the lobby if you were host.)
Your antivirus may have flagged it because crossout uses peer to peer filesharing for patching the game, and will automatically seed for other users. (like asking everyone in class for one answer to your homework, and then giving that sheet to the next class coming in after you are done getting all the results from your classmates) it does this so they dont need to pay for very expensive servers and instead rely on their userbase. more people wanting the files = more people sending the files. everyone wins(unless you have a low data cap, then turn off seeding).
