Are radars even helping?
I'm using a radar, and a radio, and i'm constantly looking at the map every 2 seconds, and yet someone sneaks up behind me. He's not using a chameleon module btw.
So is it broken or...?

Radars are not really much worth it, since you need to have line of sight with the enemy for it to detect them (that's why they don't use any energy)

Detectors on the other hand show enemies even behind cover, those are the ones you want to get, so be sure to have 1 spare energy for them ^^

Pro tip: if you can hear gunfire from around the corner and see your teammate on radar right around the corner but no enemy shows up on radar until you actually round that corner, then that means that your teammate is an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Standard radars only highlight the targets with an open field of view. They just help with long-range awareness when you use the appropriate weapons, since your internal radar can only detect something right under your nose, and they're energy-free and low PS, so the only real limitation is their size.

Radar-detectors are completely different animals. You need energy to wield one, but they detect enemies regardless of obstacles as long as they're not cloaked. Doppler is particularly powerful, as it can detect enemies across half of the map and its data sharing range makes the radio entirely meaningless. Even if you've been disarmed or/and immobilized, you can still help your team by just detecting all the enemy movement in a large area around.

I particularly like to play as stealth-buster with Doppler and machineguns. You can see any creepy fella coming seconds ahead on the map (apart from seeing the entire enemy team's movements) and simply suppress the area where he's intended to sneak through. That gives your team key moments to prepare and dismember the fool before he manages to deal any significant harm. Even if you missed him, your teammates will likely still going to react and assume there's a reason why you spraying bullets into the ground, and will be on their toes.

Radar in general = Intel about enemy = extremly important and useful for coordinated attacking, defending, retreating. (even if not coordinated still extremly useful) never underestimate intel about the enemy.
