Detectors on the other hand show enemies even behind cover, those are the ones you want to get, so be sure to have 1 spare energy for them ^^
Radar-detectors are completely different animals. You need energy to wield one, but they detect enemies regardless of obstacles as long as they're not cloaked. Doppler is particularly powerful, as it can detect enemies across half of the map and its data sharing range makes the radio entirely meaningless. Even if you've been disarmed or/and immobilized, you can still help your team by just detecting all the enemy movement in a large area around.
I particularly like to play as stealth-buster with Doppler and machineguns. You can see any creepy fella coming seconds ahead on the map (apart from seeing the entire enemy team's movements) and simply suppress the area where he's intended to sneak through. That gives your team key moments to prepare and dismember the fool before he manages to deal any significant harm. Even if you missed him, your teammates will likely still going to react and assume there's a reason why you spraying bullets into the ground, and will be on their toes.
