With about 450 hours or experience here (not trying to sound like a por or anything. just stating that I have a long time here XD) I think I could give you a pretty real review
First, the game has it's flaws, like every other out there, but nothing that's really gam breaking
Second, the game has a HUGE and painful learning curve, so if you start as a new player after getting out of the tutorial and practice matches with bots you are going to get raped left and right, I suggest that you avoid the majority of this community way of thinking, that is something like "wtf, that killed me, is op, pls nerf" and instead try to learn how he killed you, what weapons was using, how much armor your build has etc.
This game depends a lot on your playstyle and the way you build things, you will never be able to build something that excels in every situation. since literally everything in the game has a counter, you have to try to find you sweet spot
Those points were just a reaaaaally basic starting tips XD Now with the p2w topic..
It's not, you can pay to get things faster, yes, but that doesn't make you win if you are a total inept, it's pay to progress at most, which at first can feel really slow, but once you get all faction to level 5-10 and start to get used to the sell and buy market think you'll be fine
Anyway the game is free and it's not very big in size, so you can give it a try and see by yourself if you like it ^^
Look for Tipps on how to make coins (theres Threads) and it ont be that much of a grind (as soon as you can rent a blue workbench it goes faster)
Try to get the weapons needed in seasons so you can complete them and get more blue / purple stuff.
But most important not Pay2Win // Its Pay2Progress.
And if you need some starting pointers, ask nicely, some players here will help
Personally, I could kindaaa see seal-clubbing (where veteran players farm new players that don't have the part access or gear to compete) but the clincher for me is the developers consider this game very much in beta (it's announced that it's beta and everything).
So what does that mean? It means they feel free to make big changes, like nerfing epic or scarcer equipment (which is a significant investment) without compensating players. Sure, players can sell stuff on market (though the prices plunge if players consider an item was harshly nerfed). But it's still a loss, a loss which does not consider that a player either spent real money or considerably grind time to get said nerfed equipment.
Sooo I'm kinda like hey.
If you play and you don't mind getting killed by enemies with harvesters, or synthesis, or whatever OP BS weapon - hey, then great, it's "about the journey" with you, and after that vehicle you put a couple hundred hours into building gets nerfed and isn't much use for its originally intended purpose any more, you won't care, you'll just start building a new one. If that's the case, then this game is for you
if it's NOT about the journey, if it's about the winning for you, if it's about building a long-term investment, bla bla . . .
Also the game has lots of Carmageddon & GTA vehicle destruction comedy situations between players as it can be total mayhem fun, with several vehicles topping on to each other.
And great balance ofcourse. Drons, howers, destroy.
joining the legions of people who cry or not on the forums ;)
f2p = free to pay , not forced , it is possible to support the developers, and to go more quickly in its evolution...
I must well acknowledge that in the actual position, the game become unplayable, therefore with a trend with p2w..
(sorry gogole trad.^^)
The grind element is exacerbated by the above average losses you'll experience to these unbalanced weapons unless you invest money to counter them with the same strong weapons. Previously this included Drones, Sidekicks, Caucasus, but recent patches have addressed these balances so the game climate is more mild right now.
The people saying it's not P2W are usually the very players using these builds, or players who fought through those builds and expect everyone else to do the same "otherwise it's not fair" or people who just don't understand how a game can be P2W without intending to be. The whole "pay to progress" thing is true, but because of the imbalances there are obvious advantages to skipping the initial grind element where you're at a balance disadvantage and pay for content to match other the players advantages.
The last patch or two were huge steps forward in the balancing of problematic weapons and the exploitation of frame builds. But other components still offer massive advantages. The new hover builds (epic tier wheels) are an issue and sneaking higher tier weapons into lower tier games by forgoing the cost of armour parts has made the 88 Executioner cannon extremely meta in medium tier games.
The game engine is really well done as my computer is about 6 years old midrange gaming rig and I'm getting stable 60 FPS.
