can some one explain upgrading to me please?
i know it takes two like items, but what are other materials its asking for, and is the a set out come for set materials? If so, can you list the possible outcomes?

basically imo upgrading is garbage unless you're crazy set on seal clubbing. of course maybe that's because I really don't know how it works :steamhappy:

anyways prolly someone will come in and comment so hey :steamhappy:

the way I THINK it works is u take 3 of an item, and "upgrade it". the 3 become 1 (you lose two of them) and you get a random property. what property you can get, who knows, probably there's a chart on reddit or something.

now I THINK i dunno but i THINK that the new item can't be traded or used in recipes (although I think it can be used as an upgrade component) and has the same PS as the old item. so you can effectively get a better item for the same PS cost.

hence the seal clubbing bit, i mean, who doesn't like the sound of "water cooled drone" or whatever :steamhappy:

(edit - why "garbage"? well basically u need like what 6 rares to make an epic? and epics typically have way better milage, like "charged radiator" is awesome, and bla bla. so basically u can get 2 potluck upgrade orrrr u can get a koooool gas generator or humpback or charged radiator or somethin. also u can't sell the item or use it in recipes so . . . .i dunno)

Ok you can use 3 of the same weapon or item to fused into 1. It will give you 1 of the bonus from the said weapon/item randomly. Now you have a non-sell/trade able item that are better than the standred what ever you had 3 times before. Good if you going to keep and use the item lots. and you have the money for it.

Basically this and what Aardvark said, BUT I digress on "sealclubbing" as you CAN get -for example- 10% durability or structure, or such things ina weapon - other parts upgrade too, thing is the upgrade is "random", so you must relly think ahead and plan your upgrades as you won't get wha you need, BUT what you get CAN be benefical, I upgraded my Falcon drones and my Sideckicks, and now plan on my "rapier" upgrades, AFTER I'm done with blues I'll start to get purple parts.. and repeat the process...
It' slal in what you want to get out of it. AND you CAN upgrade purple parts, but well, MORE coins to get that far.

Not worth it IMHO (the increase is very small of the one random stat you get). Tried it to see what is does and now have a part you can't ever sell.

Oh, it's beneficial all right.

But is it *worth the cost*?

oh and to answer OP, if you want a list of possibilities, go in-game and select an item to fuse (it must not be common). a list comes up.

some comments on fusion here

https://www.reddit.com/r/Crossout/comments/6t32i7/fusion_or_not_to_fusion/

buuut anyways - ok let's say u fuse 3 vectors and you are super lucky and you get a vector with better (something). Then let's say you do it again. Now you have two nice vectors. but it's not as if you suddenly opened the door to another dimension, see? they're better, sure, but *that* much better?

Now look at stuff like humpback, gas generator, charged radiator. Humpback and gas generator aren't flashy, and granted humpback is slow. But increases to energy capacity means you can take advantage of multiplicative effects, like having multiple guns with multiple radiators (as opposed to having to cut back on guns so lose out on firepower, or cut radiators so lose out on firing time). So you're not opening the door to an entirely different dimension, but it *is* a pretty significant difference.

Then consider that stuff like humpback, you can use with cannons, or machine guns, or miniguns, or shotguns, or whatever really. Vectors can only be used as vectors.

Well that's my reasoning, and why I've never fused.

Will I fuse eventually? Oh I don't know, maybe when I have like a bunch of equalizers sitting around or something. But there's a lot I'm gonna do before I get there.

on aardvark's shopping list :steamhappy:

humpback for energy (got it)
gas generator for energy (got it)
apollo generator for energy (don't have it yet)
powerful engine mk 2 (for +5000 weight capacity for heavy armor build) (got it)
growl for speed build (got it)
v8 engine to trigger boosters faster (got it)
11 hermes boosters (for speed build) (don't have any yet, these things are epics omg)
3 equalizers (got it)
1 aurora (got it)
2 charged radiators (got one)
3 lightweight wheels (I think lunatic chained wheels are lightest) for racing

o ya and prolly I should get like 12 hovers sometime too, for a raid build.

ya soooo it's gonna be a while.

"wat, aardvark, no tracks?"

ya some tracks too mkay

so where in there am I gonna stop to get some fused parts?

NEVER :steamhappy:

You can upgrade the Generator and chassie for extra energy ?
Holy crap

Given the random nature of combining items and unable to sell your fused items its one expensive upgrade. That into the terrtory of whales.

You don't get extra energy, just more structure point or less blast radius on explosion

In the few upgrades I did, I have done the scope and got extra zoom, that's really cool.
xCrossFaith Oct 26, 2017 @ 1:51am
Well... To sum it up fast and easy:

You have 3 of some item, you loose 2 of them and keep one with a 5-10% random upgrade
ibherb Oct 26, 2017 @ 10:09am
thanks everyone for answers .... i'll need to think about it before upgrading any items, but probably will eventually ... right now just working towards level 8 steppenwolfs, to make humpback. Have all the parts, but not the level. Looks like i'll be stuck in my Badger I for awhile longer ...some days with it are good, some not quite so much.

How many times can you upgrade the same item?
