how do you update/rename your profile name?

when i started crossout in closed beta, my steam name was dyeamerrycunt, crossout censored and just showing D---------, since i've come back my new steam name is cryme tyme, crossout finally updated or some mod changed my profile name to 'renamed', how do i get it to cryme tyme?

btw, dyeamerrycunt isn't what you think, as i'm american, name came from way back when i played company of heroes series, where i'm a exclusive german player, hating the americunt players spamming riflemen blobs as their only tactic.

but i bought the game on steam during closed beta, is it mandatory to create a gaijin account and link it to my steam, then change the nickname?

EDIT: ok i've just create a new account on gaijin with the nickname, now do i need to link my gaijin account with my steam one? i better not lose anything i've got so far.

I'm also curious how this can be doen without loss, as my steam name reads as "______V___86836" or something along those lines...

I suggest you empty your cabin slot, then take screen shots of your entire inventory, at least the valuable ones, blue/purple etx and your resources, if you do happens to lose everything, you have proof for reimbursement.

when i signed in today, my name went back to Dye, i looked at the pinned topic about linking accounts, whenever i signed in it auto logs me in, bypass the page where i can insert the info for the merge, so i'm just staying put for now, when i need to, i will log in screen shot valuables, then merge.
