Catalyst on metal planet, only fires once?

So I have sucessfully built the five catalysts on the metal planet, aimed it at a moon and blew it up (it was orbiting the metal planet). Well, there are two other moons orbiting the metal planet and the laser doesn't seem to work. Can you only fire the metal planet once using the catalysts? Or is there something I'm missing to make it work again?

Use the system dropdown in the upper right corner to select to fire again.
