Bots vs vehicles advantages?
Wondering what are the advantages of bots against vehicles. Bots build faster then vehicles i'm assuming but vehicles do more damage

When you say bots, you mean dox. All other bots are useless (other than booms, which have uses at sniping)

Dox are fast and do more damage for their cost than tanks, but they're made of paper. They can shoot at air but they're bad at it; for real anti-air you need vehicles.

I'm really not a fan of how the vanilla game is balanced in this regard; if you want to see a different take on bots vs vehicles, see my Galactic Annihilation mod.

What are about the grenadiers? Are they more cost ineffective/worse than dox?

Dox and grenadiers is a good combination. Have a ratio of about 3:2 though or maybe the same as you would have anti ground to anti air. this makes bots not as bad as they seem.:steamhappy:

Ah, gotcha. What about the T2 vehicles and bots? And any recommendations for T1 vehicles?
Spacemanguy Apr 16, 2016 @ 3:05pm
T1 vehicles are mainly garbage unless you want an early strike force of about 7 or so tanks to hit them hard and give them a bad start but otherwise go for multiple types of forces. the hover tanks are useful for water maps but theyre not very good for the main audience of the game so not really useful. the T2 version of bolo's is what you want if you are going for vehicles. T2 bots are generally not used because people build multiple T1 factories and dox spam. in my opinion however the best T2 bots are snipers purely for 1 shot and range so have maybe 5 or so to be really annoying just sitting outside a base but also T2 doxes are just a whole lot better. only downside to them is they cant shoot air otherwise they would be called T3 but overall they have much higher damage and armour so if it lasts theyre a good investment. sorry to ramble on as im guessing you probably know most of this but i hope that something helped :P

Grenadiers are useless in the vanilla game because they can't shoot behind them.

T1 vehicles are amazing.

Your uninformed opinion is wrong; snipers are terrible. T2 vehicles are where it's at. Watch some replays from top players if you want to see why.

geez sorry, and ive played the game myself with these units i dont need to watch some of the top players of which a few of them im friends with.

unless you want to dox spam then the best way to play is with a mixed array of units.

I usually just build tank-bot combinations, The Ant+Dox early on and then the bigger T2 Bot+tank upgrade. For Anti air I usually just rely on the bots and just build normal Air to air fighters, don't really build bombers.

Bots are terrible at anti-air. Use spinners.

just find a style that works for you, thats how you have the most fun even if you dont win.

Bot fabricators are fast for expanding, although slow than air fabricators.
Vehicle fabricators are slowest but most energy efficient.

Dox are good for raiding metal spot away from the main base.
Tanks are good for a main push, into a well enemy base.
Bombers are good at taking out dox.
Spinners in good number are good to count air.

Boom bots can do well to kill T2 tanks, but Dox are best at killing boom bots, to defend your expensive t2 tanks.

The list goes on, it not a simple matter on one unit being best, the game has given roles to didn't units.

Some units work well with others some are good counters to other units. In the end it best to keep scouts and see what your fighting against and then adjust what factory and units you build to work best against the enemy. (Not that I'm very good at doing that myself)

Something people forgot to mention.

Most land vehicles can't cross water, and have to go around. Bots can walk underneath (and fight against submarines while they're down there).

Not often a major deciding factor, but it's worth noting.

You have a point.

However.
For bots,
Dox and slammers and colonels can go into the water.
Dox can't fire while in the water.
Also locusts can hover over water and lava.

For vehicles
Mangattan's can go underwater
Drifter's can also go over the water and lava.

Need to check if combat fab's can go into the the water.

Combat Fabber can't go underwater, there is a special naval unit for that.
