Countering Naval from land
Hey all, I'm still learning all the different units and I get lost trying to close out games against the AI (still only playing Queller Silver or gold atm).

Recently I had an infuriating match where my base got nuked as my army was moving in. I completely rolled through the enemy base but the nuke took out my power so I had no orbital vision or radar while I tried to track down the enemy commander.

Anyway, by the time I recovered he'd taken to the seas and was massing narwhals. I had initially tried using bombers to deny metal deposits but I couldn't attack his base, which also had an anti nuke. I tried to build naval yards myself but he quickly got a big enough fleet to deny my air force, and could respond quickly around the ocean.

A mixture of nukes, gunships and mortar tanks softened him up, but I really just got lucky and caught his commander out of position to win the game.

What are the best options for attacking sea from land? I just had no idea what 5o build and went from air to blue hawks to tanks and nukes.

If you have land, get your radar up then Bluehawks, Catapults & Holkins. At sea mass subs to take out the Narwhals, then mix subs with Leviathans (for range) and Kaijus for punch. You will need air fighter support for defense of these. Also radar is critical for fighting at range. Select a unit and press the CTRL key to see it's range. Don't push the Leviathans in too close. Take advantage of their range.

Your best bet for attacking sea->sea is using the T1 submarine (Piranha), as they cannot be attacked by most things in the game. As for land->sea combat, use torpedo launchers built on land (so subs can't attack them) and the T1 hover tank (subs can't attack these, but the hover tank can't attack the subs either) to give yourself enough breathing room to build subs.

According to pa-db.com, it looks like Catapults do not attack underwater targets (subs and bots) but Pelters and Holkins do. Catapults are excellent defence towers, yes, just don't expect them to save you from an approaching underwater menace.

I was thinking more about attacking the factories & naval defenses, but yes it all hinges on the particular situation at hand. If you own the shore line then torpedo launchers & turrets will protect against subs & bots as bots cannot fire onto land from the water.

Counter-intuitively, Slammers in deep water are also great against naval and can take out Kaijus (on the water) without harm.

as you get better it is easier to quickly evaluate the situation and create a plan.

Awesome, thanks for the quick and informative responses, all! I never knew CTRL shows range (though I may have rebound it, will have to check). I gotta learn how to use those artillery units

When you select an artillery unit, just before you place it, it will display its range so you can the most effective location
