Queller AI Easy?
hello, me again :)

after upgrading to titans i decided to give the Queller AI a try as i was looking for a really challenging game however, whenever i play using the Queller AI it's almost the same as playing on an easy vanilla AI, as in the AI builds a really small base, doesn't really expand, never attacks me, doesn't expand to other planets and builds next to no troops/buildings.

i have the dependencies for the mod to work installed and i have tried both singleplayer and hosting a private online match and there is no difference.

am i doing something wrong or is something broken?

You need to change the difficulty level; Queller doesn't change the normal AI, it adds new difficulties distinct from the normal AI. Difficulties prefixed by 'Q' are Queller difficulties.

I have tried all difficulties prefixed with Q up to Gold difficulty and there has been no difference between them, sorry i should have mentioned that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well then increase the difficulty level. You should also click the forum links for mods you install so you understand what they do.

Set it to "Q-Uber" and change the AI's econ rate to 1.7 while keeping yours at 1.0. Then play on a couple of different planets. If you don't find that challenging then you are a better player than I am.

Let us know how it goes.

Not trolling(much) but if you can't notice the difference between vanilla Easy AI and Queller Gold AI you must be looking at a different screen to the one the game is running on lol.

I think there is a bit of a misunderstanding here, i'm trying to say that the Queller AI is acting LIKE it is on "Easy" difficulty, i'm not saying that i find it easy to play against.

I'm trying to troubleshoot because i'm sure something is broken, i'll give an example:
- I've been playing a skirmish 1v1 against Queller AI "Gold" difficulty (set to start offworld)
- 1 hour into the session and i have had ZERO contact from the AI ( haven't been attacked or even scouted by it)
- after building three Halleys on a moon and ready to destroy it's planet i decide to scout it to see what is has been doing
-this is Literally what it had: 2 bot factories, 1 air factory, maybe half a dozen defensive turrets, a few ore extracors that were near it's base, NO orbital at all, and only 20 or so military units

This tipped me off that clearly something was wrong because that surely can't be it right?
Also worth noting, it looked like the AI was frozen or in idle mode or something because it wasn't buliding anything (structures or units) and i decided to snipe the commander with laser platforms and when it was being attacked it didn't react at all.

I tried all difficulties and in all cases it was similar if not exactly the same as i described above

Do you have any mods installed other than Queller?

Have you tried single planet systems to see if it behaves properly then?

Quitch will probably want the map, starting position of the ai, and a replay of if it exists to see what went wrong. There have always been some unusual cases where certain spawn points on some maps just don't work right.

Have you had the same experience on different maps?

okay so i did some other testing and it seems to have fixed it, i uninstalled every other mod i had and played a game with it on Clutch and it worked so it must be a mod i had that was breaking it i assume

Note also that if you us Play From Here it breaks the AI. The symptoms you describe sound akin to the errors caused by the use of this feature.

Thank you everyone for the replies!
I tested further and found the mod that was causing issues

For anyone who wants to know the mod is called Metal Heck (lets you build ore extractors anywhere) and it interferes with Queller even if it's disabled and it needs to be uninstalled for Queller to work (for me at least, i don't know about others)

this is the problem. This AI still can not attack other planets with great anger: its easy to turtle.
