It MIGHT relate to how many resource is on the table - if there is already 2 resource (wood, stone, magic) clear those just to be on the safe side.
Also it MIGHT incrise your chances if you achieve good scores, like unlocking achievements, or get perfects in a row.
I still very much enjoy the game, and I'm looking forward to the remastered version, hadn't heard about that. I'm also very much looking forward to the sequel!
I've taken a look at your website it's a shame the über-pre-order items are gone already for part II. $995 (why not a rounded 1000?) that puts you in the game is fun. Anyway I'll be looking forward to the sequel and the remastered edition. Shame a minor simple patch wont fix the problem.
