See the hand button in the upper-right? Click on that, and have fun. A simple click is enough to activate each response; moving the mouse around to pretend you're petting them is optional. ;) (Hint: There are three areas of their bodies they respond to being petted on; each one yields a different response.)

All volumes except for the first have a red hand button in the upper right. When you click that, you'll enter a "Petting" mode. You can click on any area that is allowed, you'll know this when the hand icon changes. It's a subtle change, though, so keep an eye out for it. Each area gives a slightly different response, and when you decide to pet your catgirls is completely optional. For example, you could pet multiple catgirls and/or Shigure when everything's tense, so you'll get a sense that the situation has calmed a bit. In reality, petting has no effect on the storyline, at least from what I can tell.

If you want all the areas that you'll get a reaction from, there's five that I'm aware of. Specifically, they are the top of the head, face, chest (lol), stomach, and, uh... That last one's for you to figure out. I'm not sure if the legs will do anything. Either way, I realize I'm late to this response, but I felt there was more information to be spread.

Where did you get that info? AFACT, it's just three. The top of the head and face are a single area, as are the belly and points below. I prefer to think of the latter as the belly (cats love being rubbed on the belly, if they're comfortable with being touched in such vulnerable areas, and will often roll on their back as an invitation), but however you think of it, the response is the same throughout the head, as well as below the chest.

I honestly just did some looking around, and noticed slightly different reactions in full. It might just be me.

Were you, perhaps, looking at Vol. 2 or Vol. 3? They made an enhancement: each area has several different reactions that are selected randomly; it's usually different even if you touch the exact same spot. It's quite possible you saw a video where someone was messing around and touched different parts of each area. It would be easy to mistake the different reactions as indicating different areas.

BTW, I said, "as are the chest and points below", but I should have said, "as are the belly and points below".

I was looking at volume two in particular, but yeah.
