I don't know what it does at all, so I can only try to guess. Maybe it's some kind of "Luck" type attribute like in most RPGs. Usually in RPG games, "luck" affects everything you do in a small way. Maybe high intangibles affect everything you do by a very small percentage of success.

It could also be something that affects your teammates in a small way. Like, high intangibles make your teammates have higher success rate in things they do (like shots, steal attempts, defense, ...)

Whatever it is, it's quite intangible indeed.

In fench it means something that can't be touched or modified. I think it makes you easier to control, less influenced by your opponents actions. Probably helps for consistency. Just a wild guess. To know we should all watch how our player reacts as we get more +1.

"Intangibles", regardless of what it means outside of basketball, is actually something people talk about a lot in real basketball, like for NBA players. It's basically qualities of the player that don't translate into their stat line. You can't put a finger on what they are precisely because you don't have the stats on them :D. It's not shooting, it's not passing, it's not rebounding or blocking or steals...

It can refer to stuff like hustling a lot, really being a great help defender, being a good screen setter on and off the ball, boxing out consistently even if you're not the one to grab rebounds, being really tough and durable and having a good competitive mindset. Everything basketball IQ related that doesn't appear in your stat line. Maybe even being a good practice partner or locker room presence (but people generally talk about intangibles on the floor).

Now, in the game, who knows what it is...

team chemistry, awareness, consistency. More intangibles, the easier the game.
