Or the basic Microsoft Xbox controller for PC. I've been using it for the last 5 years. You can find it on Amazon or in Best Buy if you are in the US.
If you want NO PROBLEMS with pc games in general, means you are not gonna buy something just for nba, buy an xbox 360 controller possibly WIRED.
Second really good pc compatible option it's the one already suggested: xbox 1 controller.
BOTH options needs to be microsoft, not other brands, one good example is the razer 360 pad, it's awesome, lot of customization and well built, sadly with some games you are gonna have problems.
The x360 controller is cheap and good, still the dpad (the cross on the left) it's HORRIBLE, I don't know who designed it but needs to be fired.
The xbox one controller it's not compatible with EVERYTHING right now but I'm sure it will be, and it's better in almost every way.
That said, consider how much you wanna invest and pick one, I can't suggest you to buy anything else unless you aren't in the mood to deal with 3rd parties software and things such as xpadder, xinput plus and so on to have best compatibility with all your games.
ABSOLUTELY avoid the steam controller, it's the worse controller ever, I bought it in pre-order and since it came out I found it useful for just a few games, the rest... totally crap.
