1.5 - Pump skills into the related skill. Which would be Agility, playmaking and defence? I believe.
2 - Change your controller settings for your right stick, and set it to "Dribble".. This will give you more directional control by sweeping the stick around and doing trick shots/movement. You can find out a bit more in some of the (god aweful) tutorials.
3 - The AI is set to mirror you, depending on the player skill and the game difficulty. So depending on who your going against, your millage will vary.
Alternative Method - Play the game like a team game. PASS
I do. But I want to learn how to break ankles before I get the badge. I typically play with the right stick get a double move pass and assist. But I want to make some cross up shots myself because I set a limit of 20 points min. a game so I stay rookie of the year!
Are you playing against humans or cpu? If it's humans, you don't have to do anything, just blow past them. Too many people love to dance, going east and west. I prefer going north and south, straight to the hoop. Most of the time, I hardly touch the right dribble stick.
While ankle breakers -can- be done to people, effective online dribblers rely on momentum/speed boosting. This requires even more ball control, but it's much more consistant than just dribbling and waiting for an ankle break, and its much safer.
EDIT: to more accurately answer you, there is no exact method, I personally catch more ankles by changing directions with Turbo than any dribble move.
