2K17 MyCareer Sucks ♥♥♥
I hope they improve the MyCareer in 2K18. It hasn't been good since NBA2K14. That was the best and 2K15 was not too shabby either, for MyCareer. Now though, it's just so repetitive. It's like watching paint dry after 100 games. And 2K17 MyCareer is the absolute worst. Absolutely nothing ♥♥♥♥ing happens after you're drafted. It's just the game, over and over and over. It's boring as ♥♥♥♥ after a while. What happened to making it like being a real player? The different choices and decisions to make? 2K14 got it exactly right. A good balance between the game itself and a storyline and choices. Then they ruined it by making it more about MyPark at the expense of the MyCareer game. They gave us that Spike Lee BS in 2K16 as to mask the fact they'd cut out most of the substance of the MyCareer mode. Coz after a season nothing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ happens. Absolutely nothing. They cut out a lot of that stuff so that the bare minimum happens in between MyCareer games. Especially now. Once you're drafted that's the story line over. Pretty much. Where's the ♥♥♥♥ing rest of the game 2K? MyCareer is trash now. Need I remind people, it wasn't MyPark that made 2K so popular. It's that MyCareer used to be really good. It was involved, unlike other repititive basketball games. Like this trash MyCareer we got now. Just too ♥♥♥♥ing repetitive. Boring as all hell. Why can't we have a good MyPark mode and a good MyCareer mode. Why does it have to be one or the other 2K? I like MyPark but without a decent MyCareer it's not really worth the cost. I'm gonna wait to see what the MyCareer in 2K18 is like before I buy it. ♥♥♥♥ all this eLeague MyPark ♥♥♥♥. It's fun but without a good Career mode in the game, it's only every gonna be a half complete game and why would I pay full price for an incomplete game. Without a decent MyCareer it's really just a trash game. Even if MyPark is fun, if MyCareer isn't then what's the point?

Lol what? It's actually the best mycareer so far. Not too much story like 2k16 but still way more stuff than 2k15 and older like the cutscenes, sponsorships, mycourt, all the jerseys etc you can buy. You think it's repetitive? Well it's basketball. Of course it's repetitive, you play 82 games + playoffs per season. What else do you want to do, playing golf and smoking cigars with Michael Jordan? All mycareers have been like this, the most exciting thing is getting drafted and everything is pretty much repetitive after that (but still enjoyable imo, especially this year).

Honestly, it would be a big help if some of those cut scenes prior to the game had some effect on the game itself. For example, in the game I just played before the game crashed (typical) Jimmy Butler was giving me lip before I trounced the Bulls by 20. Give your opponent a boost every once in awhile, change it up. Make those cutscenes mean something rather than load screen filler.

Exactly. Literally none of the cut scenes effect the game. There are also very few choices to make, unlike 2K14

I like this my career, it's actually really funny at some points.

I just wish it was more clear what's skippable and not. Cus I get sick of pushing the green button.

i'd rather have them dump the soap opera'isch storyline and go back to the game being more responsive to your actions on and off the court (interviews and such).

right now 2k's making it really easy on themselves. in 2k17 you're "The President" of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ basketball before the ball even gets rolling (pun intended) and once you're past the college games, you're literally about the worst player the nba has ever seen in terms of skillset - yet everyone refers to you as the next potential face of the nba. no matter how bad your stats or actual performance is.

Well it's safe to say MC could do with some improvements

MyCareer needs improvements but not in the RP part. It is gonna be repetitive my man just like it is in real life for the nba players. My suggestions:

1. I liked the dynamic duo idea. I think you should be able to choose who that other guy should be in any team you get drafted or traded to, though.

2. That influence you had on which players your team should try to trade. Bring it back. I want to bring this player to the team, this guy never to leave the team or get rid of this guy as suggestions to the gm.

3. Total remake of the practise system. Now that's repetitive and b****it. Constantly jumping on the vertical exercise in the gym daily, apparently makes you a beast nba player according to this year's 2k. Or that you are forced to do post defense/offense drills as a playmaker, shoot 3s drills as a glass cleaner.. Imo you should get progress on your stats based on your performance in the matches you play. You should be able to choose whatever drill you want so that you can improve other stats there or stats that trouble you to raise in the actual matches.

3. AI. There have been improvements on the AI tbh. My biggest issue as a pg is that after you pass the ball to a teammate you have a very small window to ask for the ball again or he will just stand there frustrated with the ball and then shoot it. In short, the AI doesn't go for plays and good ball movement most of the time, unless a play is called by you. (or the coach if you change the settings)

4. Lastly, badge progress bar. Although tbf, I think this is getting added next year.

Agree with everything. Although I'd prefer if they focus on the sport aspect more, like presentation and commentary on your player's respective achievements, and less on trying to tell a linear story about a guy. While it may be fun the first time, it gets really annoying when you start over, which happens quite frequently in sports games.

I'd love for them to get rid of the stupidly aggressive double team cheese, too. No player in the NBA, not even Curry, gets doubled as far out as the half court line. What's even worse than the realism aspect of it, is that once you rack up like 8 pts, you can pretty much every single time throw the ball to open man who's either gonna cut for a dunk or shoot an open 3.

So it's not like I'm complaining about not being able to play heroball anymore, which still works fine really unless you're trying to post someone up, it just makes the game incredible repetitive.

Oh yea the double team lmao I remember they "patched it" at some point but all they did was give you a few extra seconds to do what you had to do for whatever badge you were grinding and THEN double team you.
Or at least that's how it felt like

2K need to separate the player for MC and MyPark!
i want to be real 99 overall, not this super strict archetype BS.
I know it's working really good at park but definetly not MC
we want to be a true nba superstar in MC

Getting to choose your dynamic duo is a cool idea. It should also determine the player you become and restrict to some badges. Best of the best would be to be able to take your dynamic duo to the park, like have a court d duo vs d duo.
