That's good to know for limitless range I'll try it out with attribute boosts. Mid range dead eye and deep range dead eye pop up at what rate?
Deep Range Deadeye works on long 2s as well. You might notice if you ever make a contested long 2 just a foot or two from the line, both Deep and Midrange Deadeye cards activate.
Whenever you take a jumpshot that is at least slightly contested. So they're pretty useful badges, I'd say.
off the dribble 3s are (in my opinion) terribly inconsistent, even when you're a shotcreator. i've played a tall and small shotcreator for longer periods of time and can tell you right now that corner 3s with bronze badges have been more reliable for me than off dribble shots from the top. so personally i would always advise against making them a go-to move unless you're either a shotcreator or slasher.
as far as pouring points into your 3pt shot i'd say go for it. with catch & shot, the corner badge and the possibility of a dimer boost you can be pretty reliable uncontested which makes it worth it imo.
the deadeye badges help on late contests, especially if the defender's coming at you from a bad angle. but i wouldn't count on either midrange or longrange badge to bail you out on a bad shot with subpar shooting ratings. to put that statement in perspective, even a sharpshooter with maxed shooting stats and all shooting badges will come out of a game with a terrible FG% if they insist on hoisting up contested shots - below 30% isn't far fetched at all in that regard.
tl;dr
3pt shooting is valuable with all archetypes, but make sure your priorities are set straight and that you're effective at what you're supposed to do. shooting badges help with the consistency and will at times bail you out on what you THOUGHT was a good shot but turned out to be a bad one (like a late contest) - so they are worth grinding for.
generally i would say being versatile is always a good look. so stepping away from the basket and knocking down a jumper as a power forward and/or center isn't necessarily a bad approach, just don't expect to do it with the same concistency as guards do it and don't try to score like that against all odds and you're good to go imo.
But on Pro-am, it's more hard to have good %, so don't hope too much. Park, it's good possibility.
Hey, thanks for the answer :) Yeah I agree that off dribble three is rather inconsistent (save for that "little" step back in the corner, you know, just holding the two sticks towards the corner and shooting right away, I can often get a greenlight on that as I practiced it a lot), so I'll probably go with mid range or 3pts.
I'll definitely keep grinding for mid range eye, I believe some late contests I may get could be overcome with dead eye badge.
Of course as I mentionned in the original post, I'm still an athletic finisher and I'll always favor the paint over anything else, but versatility is bread and butter in park where taking your defender off guard with an unexpected move/shot can make you win a game ! :)
Okay I guess the 48 would allow some more consistency from the corner then.
Well yeah this extra 3pts is just for park as in ProAM there are always players way better at threes that an Athletic Finisher with 40 haha. I take one every now and then when there's a big lead but I think I made one out of ten so far so I'll keep to mid range and the paint... :p
Abso-fcking-lutely
Just got mid range and deep range deadeye badges so I'm gonna see how they work out now :) Limitless range doesn't seem worth the hassle, unless it prevents the shooting bar from shrinking if I get away from the line in the corne? In any case it's a pain the a$$ as athletic finisher so I'm probably not gonna do it haha
mid and deep dead eye will help a lot. I would suggest you focus on shooting form the corners and form center position. You should be able to hit every open trey with a HOF dimer.
