This is going to be a stupid question, what would I need to hook up a PS3 controller to my PC? I have never did anything like that.
I though the trackpad could act as the second joystick. The game has full controller support on the Store page so it should work but I have no idea if it's viable and fun.
hmmm, maybe
I use the steam controller and it works well. If you are familiar with the "mode switching" feature, then you can have the 1 stick act as right stick when needed (which isn't much at all). That's what I do since I couldn't get the "feel" for the trackpad as the right stick.
Is there anything needed to use a steam controller?
I have seen a few games that in order to make the steam controller work, you have to do some config file editing.
The steam controller is normally recognized as an xbox controller, but you can configure the buttons/pads pre- or mid-game to function as any combo of controller + keyboard/mouse.
There a few games like this, that's why I ask.

Everything can be reprogramed, and most can have dual functions. Like I said earlier, I can have the sole joytick act like the left stick as normal, and when needed have it become the right stick when I hold the left grip button underneath (marked as Mouse Back in the image).
It really is a good investment if your finnicky with preset controls in gaming today like me :)
