Got everything I can guess except lvl 7 runes (which are unnecessary grind, the game can be easily finished with lvl 3-4 runes when in the alien world)
Some notes on my playthrough:
Due to bad drop luck, I just gave up on the necromancer farm after 20 kills or so and made a dragon armor, also had no good sword drops so I went with a 3-rune dragon sword which served me very well until the very end.
Farming was somehow not a viable option as even three cows and three chicken mangers did not help me to satisfy my healing and stamina item needs, the idea of cooking to increase max HP and SP is genius though and should be kept, it was fun discovering but unfortunately I just went through several worlds to get all ingredients because of chest randomness. Also grass kept growing over all my crops even if I worked a dirt block with my hoe.
On this point also alchemy is too much of a hassle. Farming the catalyst items is too random, takes too long and is not fun for very low yields. It's easier to farm a boss several times, create a new world and go to hell and open all chests there to get more potions.
The bosses have been the right amount of challenging the first times. However the alien king was incredibly easy to kill, the hardest boss was the master. At the point where you get firearms combat becomes really easy, firearms are also really easy to acquire, I needed one hour to get all the endgame items. and another hour to beat all dungeons on the alien planet and finish the king. One thing to balancing: The ability to spam potions/food can make every boss a walk in the park depending on how many potions you have, this can pretty much break balancing and make bosses feel too easy. Also some bosses can be cheesed really easily with block buidling.
I think the alien biome and firearm acquisition could be worked on, it feels nothing special to get them and dual semi-auto pistols are the best weapons in the game, you can farm any boss with them and they equal the eraser in DPS and are way more ammo-eficient. Also upgrading bows and boomerangs could be a thing, because a the point where you get the dark bow/boomerang you will exactly only use them in the 30 minutes until you get a gun, then they get outclassed.
MAGIC: Player-made spells is really an awesome idea, however there is absolutely no point in making any spell stronger than tier 3. The mana cost scales linearily on single stats and multiplicatively on multiple stats (e.g. a light beam with 50 damage, 7, speed and 120 lifetime will cost you 240 mana and be level 6, that's 1/4th of my mana for 50 damage lol), which kinda makes any really good spell cost 700 mana or more.
I think some additional slider for mana cost should be added for each spell, the lower the slider for mana cost the higher the level (to a point). This would make creating cheaper high damage spells possible for endgame, but better gems would be needed. The spells i'm able to deal most damage per mana with are all level 1-3, crafting higher level gems is actually a waste of resources at this point.
Wew what a post, if you need any more detailed info feel free to contact me personally. I had a great time and am looking to see more updates in the future!
I have managed to beat the game multiple times back in the day and have returned time and again to check the updates and progress,
But there are afew bits that were annoying and still are annoying,
0# my tinyest issue you spelt phoenix wrong it drives me insane everytime i see it since it's my fav sword/pet,
(Some areas you spell it correct, others it's totaly wrong, including the file system which out of pure annoyance i rewrote them all)
1# Making potions and enhanced runes/gems,
I swear to make enough potions to fight the average boss you'd have to spend hours searching for the correct flowers let alone the other materials,
Honestly it's easier to just get alot of souls and use a arcane spell to hellivator my way to the underworld on a new world and open the chests and rince and repeat,
For enhanced gems atm there is no point to it,
all staffs beat any handmade spells besides arcane for digging (which bounces btw) and lightning when u have room,
Not to mention you'd have to dig up multiple planets to ever get a max gem,
Same for runes i reprogramed the dungeon so i can skip straight to the boss room and it still took forever for a tier 4 rune from all the drops let alone a tier 7,
A temp fix for the above would be make the potions cost a single flower and make that the only type of flower to spawn until some sort of farming system is in place,
Make runes cost 2x to enhance,
Same for gems,
I had to mod the above changes in myself and it feels more fair still yet to get a max gem, rune or even once make a top tier potion.
2# Some of the enhancements for pets are just plain pointless while others are worth their weight in gold,
Like regen easily the most useful in every situation,
Then you got the giant (buff) which only counts as a buff in open ended areas on creatures like raptors which have a stand still mid range attack,
Honestly it would be great if you put in the code so people could mod the pets buffs or a structure/item that allows us to decide the order of their buffs that they will learn.
3# Custom made magic,
It's pointless as mentioned above i believe i'v only ever kept 2 spells,
Lightning as it's good range, damage, cost with the condition of having room,
Arcane for digging,
As geno mentioned the cost gets too high too quickly,
I'd rather a fireball spell that cost me a level 5 ruby, some dragon scales and other fire related items to craft a strong spell over a level 3 ruby dealing 50 damage for 200 mana.
As for souls well by the time i reach the dragon i normaly have about 50k-100k average,
by the time i got to what was just before the aliens i'd have 500k normaly after buying everything never done the aliens tho as in all honesty i & my friends normaly lose interest by that point.
[The following is abit of a rant comparing this game to other games of this type including the golden child terraria "sorry in advance"]
Played this with my friends each time we always stopped after only acouple hours,
we finished terraria start to end vanilla 6 times and modded 3 times but this game we just cant get far before needing a break from it,
it just feels very....bare,
I know it's still in development but theres just a major lack of monster types,
lack of ore types,
lack of armor types,
lack of weapon types,
the spell system is too lackluster outside of lightning and arcane,
Lack of stuff to do in general,
We have come back multiple times and normaly it just feels the same every playthrough the same same stuff in same order for same reasons.
With the only exceptions being the challenges, staffs, new bosses.
What kept us coming back to the other games of this type was we could take adozen routes to get to the same target always finding something new along the way,
If we wanted to make a cool base or distract ourselves with giant constructions like a world wide teleportation network we could,
We would always end up spending hours just building an amazing base,
Then enjoy exploring and seeing everything the world had to offer,
Doing all the side tasks along the way,
In Pa well you dont have any of that,
Most of the base stuffs so expensive you dont get it til mid/end game and their use is very straight forward,
Within an hour you'v seen all monsters outside of speical zones/alien biome,
Every weapon is like every other weapon without any key differences with the 1 expection of the phoenix sword due to the pet nature,
The world isent drasticly changed due to your interactions besides destroying landscape and all.
I'm sorry if this rant upset you but i felt i needed to say it as it's a good game just it's missing key elements that would transform it into a great or amazing game.
There is 2 areas you beat terraria and thats ease of modding,
learning to mod your game took me 5 mins of looking through files no guides/tutorials tho it's atad bit limited 1 bit i wanted to do was make a omni rune that had all abilitys (besides chicken) sadly how things work is hardcoded xD
And finaly the look of everything,
your pixel art is AMAZING,
Wish my attempts at pixel art looked 1/500th that good xD
thanks for the feedback.
Don't worry, negative but constructive feedback is the most useful.
We already know a major part of the problems, but some requires many time and efforts to be fixed.
I'm currently creating the new magic customization, it should fix the problems (and I have to fix the scepters at the same time). Potions crafting is a very old system, it will be also redo, like many other things.
My main priority atm is to create a fully working game engine, with all planned features.
Glad to hear the systems are being changed/updated,
Making a engine can be insanely difficult and time consuming i really wish you luck on that one,
Also congratz on that recent patch that fixed the ui was so happy to see working sliders and tabs due to how much scrolling use to be required.
Can't wait to see what sort of magic system you come up with as it's very rare to have a interesting magic system in any games these days.
No matter how much time passes i'll keep a eye on your game and it's updates as it's a awesome little game and i await the day i and my friend can play it start to end :3
Yeah ergonomic and nice interfaces are really important, but it took a long time to do a good UI engine.
We couldn't afford to take so much time for this at the beginning of the project.
The new magic system will be really more powerfull. It's what I have used internally to create all of the scepters.
The problem is to succeed in translating all this into ergonomic interfaces, and to calculate automatically the SP consumption.
Thanks
Aside from that the alien section seemed relatively balanced if not a tad too fast paced. like making the cost of weapons a bit bigger so you have to stay with a weapon longer might have made the progression feel a bit better paced. I managed to collect like to non-craftable guns I think so if there are more I wasn't lucky enough to find them before I beat the boss and my level crashed unexpectadly not allowing me back in.
I felt that most of the swords were too weak and most of the pets died too easily, but maybe that's just me aclimating to the overpowered feeling I got from my fire transformation.
I hated the level cap on my transformations. Like maybe it would be cool if there were ways to raise it. like maybe beating a boss or getting to the spaceship.
finding food to increase my stats was also a bit frustrating. If there was perhaps some sort of food catalogue to detail how to get food. Maybe I'm just stupid, but I still don't know how to get coacoa beans. I've searched and searched and there nowhere to be found so that's frustrating.
since I lost my world data I think that some sort of crystal or tower shop in the spaceship would be nice so that people like me don't have to go through the trouble of finding all of the resouces to build all of my towers again. though that might be asking a bit too much.
I've notice that if you transform into and out of a lightning/ice creator their respective projectile will shoot out at insane speeds. so the probably needs to be nerfed.
keeping a living cow is really hard. I tried Isolating a cow in the second story of a building but a zombie's lighting crawled up to it and killed it. If I leave it on the ground A monster usually gets to it so if there were a way to transfer cows/chickens between barns/coops that would probably help.
I forget which one but when you capture a monster with a certain title the title changes making it very confusing when you just want to upgrade your transformation and can't find the right title even though you just caught it.
If you could control your jump height when you have the icarus ribbon (it's called something like that) equipped. that would make life so much easier.
I didn't even know there was a level 4 capture gem until I had made it to the spaceship so a craftable version of that would be cool. I understand if you don't want to though.
I had a huge surplus of staffs or whatever their called and thought that they were way too common of an item.
I hope that this comment was appropriate for this forum. thank you for your time. I hope this was helpful in some way.
I had dragon armor set and used many, many healing items. And it was long into post game I got my first seal lvl 4, found the lvl 5 dino soulstone, 30+ worlds later I found the ice slime dungeon and finally finished the shadow armor.
Not gonna lie, some boss fights as melee were downright painful. The T-rex, the shadow monk, etc. Can't imagine anyone melee beating the alien boss.
Then post game I made meteor spell with bounce and it just shredded everything. It was like night and day. As long as I had the SP potions, whatever boss I looked at died. T-rex, alien boss, etc. That spell just let me rapidly farm the alien boss. But if I went too hard on him with it at the start he'd fly into the ceiling and be stuck up there.
With maxed out dragon gear with maximised dps (poison and fire d/s) it isn't to crazy difficult to beat the alien boss, you just need an icarus necklace and lots of potions to heal yourself when you get hurt.
1:the souls are useless once you get a few seals and I have 25k right now and nothing to do with them
2:the master and the t.rex are RIDICULESLY hard. I have almost max dragon armor and a really good sword and good spells and I STILL haven,t beaten them.
3: healing is really hard/grindy to get because the flowers are rare and they don't make very many potions and the only other good source of healing is the ham and giblets from the mountain biome and those take a while to get.
didn't really mean to rant oops
I'm not angry I just think these need to be fixed soon
