Shadow Crystals

I could not find any information on where to obatin them for the life of me, and i've searched my world for a couple hours now. I have opened every type of chest that can spawn. I'd like some clarification for peace of mind on where to find them, unless they have a low spawn rate in golden chests >.<"

Hi,
You can find them some time in silver chests, but it's not required to access the shadow dungeon, because this dungeon is placed vertically below the starting point.
So it's easy to find.

Thx for the reply, but that is the castle dungeon; can also get there via stone crystal. I'm looking for the Dark Castle dungeon; I cannot get the gold anvil.

The shadow dungeon is under the castle dungeon.

SIlver and Gold Chest is where i find them mostly :D
