How do we breed pets?

I have a male skelly and a female but aside from it showing hearts they dont seem to be breeding. lol I've been in the steam browser trying to understand various things and my pets have been in that house for several days while I did so but nothing has happened yet. So as the Subject asks, how do we breed pets?

Okay, I decided to add a bed, since it said we could add decorations. Now I see some hearts on the other tab getting a little filled.

I love this game, because of it's mechanics, but it SERIOUSLY needs to add some user friendliness or at least an up to date official Wiki.

I'd still like some info about breeding. I appear to have gotten lucky? lol I made the graveyard pet house(it was the cheapest). Thankfully I like capturing Skellys. I think I may have dodged a bullet there.

Well, those floating hearts are indication of love, so egg should spawn in main tab of house interface sooner or later (probably sooner, just go adventuring and check when you come back)
As for hearts you get for decorations, it's only to increase XP pets get while in house, more like leveling boost.
Some sort of compendium in-game is planne, but as you probably can imagine, it would take quite a while to do and would make upcoming translations, game improvements and various fixes take much more time because it would have to be edited and updated with every update. And time is very limited resource when it comes to indie development.
For a wiki... well... it's actually community interest to have a wiki and it's accepted by default that community itself makes a wiki and keeps it up to date, not game developers.

Also, for breeding, sometimes certain houses don't work and even if you have male+female of same species in the house, they don't have floating hearts, thus they will never provide a baby egg, even if it should work otherwise.

No, it means that sometimes pets just need to be put into another house, because sometimes house just don't produce eggs due to a bug.
As for chickens, chickens have no breeding egg assigned so they will never breed.
