Planet Centauri

Planet Centauri

How does this game compare to games like Terraria and Starbound?
I own Terraria but haven't played it in some time, have never played Starbound but also thought it looked interesting, and know nothing about this game other than it looks very similar. How do they all compete for anybody who has played this game and atleast one of the others? I am contemplating getting it, but might not if it is basicly just a reskinned Terraria. I noticed that in Starbound you also get to go to space, so at the moment I might be more interested in that than this, but on the other hand this has dinosaurs, so whoever can break it down for me and tell me if it is worth it or not, I would appreciate it.

Personally, I like all three games. Starbound is a complete game and contains much more content. Planet Centauri is in early access.

Personally, i enjoy all 3, but this game feels like it takes everything i enjoy from both starbound and terraria and improves upon them.

To add to that I feel like with terraria and starbound, i find i can easily rush through the tech with those without even realizing, where as with centauri, i find it actually paces you somewhat (in a good way!) so i dont feel like im breezing through more than half the content in under an hour lol.

For whatever reason, i also find that Centauri is MUCH more pleasant on the eyes than either of the others.

Overall i enjoy this game much more than both the others, and i still love both the others :P which excites me even more so since this game still has more to come out!

+1 to this discussion. I was about to ask the same thing, lol. :D
Planet centauri has already a lot of things, you will have nearby 15 hours to play it yet.

A lot of dungeons to explore.

Some good bosses to defeat that are harder than Starbound but not as hard and no like Terraria's bosses.

Customisable magic spell.

Some biomes to explore, even if they are less interesting than Terraria biomes.

This game has a lot of thing planned by dev, such as dimensions, tower of 100 floor and more.
After I have played this game, it is really good and better than other Terraria like.

You forgot pets/mounts :trazz:(unless they were disappointing so you did not mention it)

Have played them all and about 40 other terraria-like games.

Planet Centauri has 10 times less content, compared to Terraria (non-modded). It has many features from different genres, all of which do not compile well together. Pets and mounts are some kind of attempt to make it look like Pokemon, but its not Pokemon. There are no varietty, no depth. Only few item sets, few enemies, few bosses. 7 dungeons sharing the same looks, bosses and loot. Quite annoying and boring alchemy system. Game is in active development for 6 years yet it still has, as i already mentioned, 10 times less content compared to Terraria.

Many of its system are unbalanced and falling apart, thats why devs reworking them over and over and over, but in the end its the same dead corpse. It doesnt look like anyone really cares about this game, including its comunity... As stated above, it has about 15 hours of playtime, which will mostly consist of you collecting basic ores (copper, iron, silver and gold) and trying different useless thingies, like pets, which die in 1-2 hits and require 3 hours of grind to level up.

Here are the list of things this game lacks: invasions, unique bioms, random boss encounters, fishing, water / ocean, graple system, mechanics system, mechs, electricity, traps system (to place), NPC-s (there are cook, alchemist and smith, thats all), proper house buildings, mid-game and late-game content, tiered ores which can be found only deeper, moon phases, mods, guide character (to tell about recipes, so we dont have to google it) and that lise goes on and on and on...

THANK YOU! This is the info I was looking for. if it really is as you say, that sounds comparable to ARK (which I hate), ie: way too grindy for me. thanks for sharing your whole post :happymeat:

Thanks all, I appreciate the feedback. Unless some major update rolls around for it, I may just avoid it for now, I haven't even beaten Terraria yet anyways lol.
