As the description of the game above says, this is a spooky thrillling third-person point&click adventure.

I will not reveal much of the story because the meaning of the game is discovering what’s going on around you.

1)Just some tidbits:
You are a sort of P.I., straight coming out from the ’80/’90 with his long dark coat, sunglasses always worn even if the sun has skipped totally over the city and his tough manners and rough voice, who is trying to find out what’s happened to his girlfriend.
Retracing some of her action, he will bump in to strange characters that sometimes will give him a hand (even secretly) sometimes will just ignore him (even if they have other plans in mind). Where is she? Is she still alive?
Play it and find out...

2)Gameplay:
The red hotspot indicates the object (or character) with which you can interact. The right button of the mouse gives you some description of what you are observing (that appears at the top of the screen); some objectes require a close scrutiny when they are in your inventory (at the bottom of your screen). Some of them can also be combined.
Collect everything, it could come in handy later (all has a purpose!)
At the start of the game you are given a folder and a strange coin: don’t forget to dip in to it..you never know what clues can come through!
During the game you will find a map that shows the main buildings and clicking on them will move you there immediatly.
When you try to use something on a red hotspot, if it’s the right thing, it will wobble..but sometimes even if it’wobbling, it will not fit..so it may be of help having an ample point of view and using your wits.
Don’t let any “dark corner” goes unchecked because the answer.. can be in plain sight..

Being Last Half of The Darkness a saga, if you want to have the whole picture of its story, you have to start from “Shadows of the Servant” then “Beyond the Spirit’s Eye, “Tomb of Zojir” and “Society of the Serpent Moon”.

I like these games because their plots are good and engaging; the puzzles and riddles are comprehensible and the gameplay is easy and neat.

So my rating for them is 8/10

I played all four of these so that I could properly review the package. The TL;DR is that getting 4 pretty good point-and-click adventures for this price is pretty great. However, if you'd like to look over what all is offered, I wrote up each review. When you purchase the set, I highly recommend going to the community centre and downloading the launchers made by Zeikar, otherwise, getting the first 3 games to play will be difficult.

Shadows of the servants:
Played from a 1st person point of view, this first installment seems almost dependent on the "pop on screen" kind of scare tactics. The voices are difficult to understand, but many important "clues" are not captioned. You must have the sound on to catch everything. I seriously recommend a notebook of some kind and very fast writing skills.
In my personal opinion, there are many puzzles in this installment that make little to no logical sense. There is no hint system or map, so you are required to go back and check everything on a regular basis. On the plus side, when you find the correct item, it will wiggle in front of the hot spot, so you can use a little process of elimination. Regardless, I'd be surprised if you don't have to look up help a few times while you play.

Beyond the Spirit's Eye:
Also played from the 1st person point of view, there is less "pop up" action, but this installment is still very creepy. More of the speech is captioned, but the voices are still very difficult to understand. If you want to know the twist at the end, make sure you've got your headphones on, because none of that is captioned.
The puzzles in this game are much more logically sound. There were very few times I was at a complete loss as to what came next. That being said, there are a lot more red herrings and many items that are very difficult to find, if you don't click every millimetre of your screen. On the positive side, there is a map included in this game. It's not super useful, but it does help you travel to 5 main areas of the adventure.
By far, the most annoying part of this game is that there is no way to skip the animated scenes. There are certain rooms that play a full animation every time you go in them, and there's no choice but to sit back and watch the same scene over and over again.

Tomb of Zoljir:
Played from a 1st person point of view, the most immediate difference in this installment is that you can actually understand the voices. The captioning is done much better than the previous two, and the graphics are noticeably better. However, despite the much better captioning, you absolutely have to have headphones available. One puzzle, in particular, requires you to listen to the clicks of a wheel, and the different sound is the correct choice. The map is much more useful than in Beyond the Spirit's eye.
Of the four, this is the one that I think has the most content. I spent the longest on it, and 90% of the puzzles are pretty straight forward. There's still a lot of traveling back and forth, but not as much as the previous 2.

Society of the Serpent Moon:
Played from a 3rd person perspective, this installment moves very slow because you're always waiting for your character to walk across the screen. On the plus side, it gives you tons of time to think. They've made it so that you can double-click on the entrance/exit and leave a room immediately. They've also made it so that you push Tab and can see your entrances/exits. There are very few repeating animated scenes (unlike Spirit's Eye), but you can skip any or all of them with a simple right-click.
This game is pretty much stand-alone when compared to the others. Installments 1-3 reference one another and have very similar feels while this game seems to be a completely different story.
The puzzles follow logic. Very few red herrings, very few "WTF?!?" moments. A map allows you to travel from one area to the next with very few problems, once you find it.

This is an adventure game in the style of Sierra Online's original 'Quest' titles, like King's Quest, Space Quest and Police Quest. No previous knowledge of prior 'Last Half of Darkness' games is required to play or to understand the storyline. In order to find and save your girlfriend from a dark cult, you explore various fixed-camera scenes in a seedy town for clues. I found the puzzles fun and solving them was great satisfaction for a player who is normally stumped on games like this with without a walkthrough. The most difficult aspect for me was finding all the objects that are needed as tools in other locations. Be sure to search every nook and cranny for usable items.

This steam package also includes a free copy of Tomb of Zojir and 3 other games. Tomb of Zojir is a 'must play' for fans of the genre and is worth the price of admission alone!

I can deal with low quality graphics and terrible voice acting and the awkward tacky cliches, what really broke the game for me was the inconsistent and buggy controls.

Left click is meant to perform an action
Right click is meant to give a description, usually something like a vague hint if the item relates to a puzzle.

At time I would left click and nothing would happen. I had to click several times before the game actually responded to my command. There were so many times that right click had no reaction, so you are left trying a few times wondering if the game has bugged out again or there really isn't a description. My conclusion was that there simply was no 'description' audio for near 90% of the objects in the game. Sometimes left click only gave a description, rather than a response that there was no action available (as the description should have been for when you right click).

Stilted, awkward and confusing.

I have thoroughly enjoyed these games and I am very sorry I have finished. The stories are intriguing, the puzzles (mostly) doable and I had no technical problems at all.

Good points - I liked the setting and the VERY creepy video sequences
I had no technical problems getting the main game to run (I havent tried the extra games)

Bad points - I hated the main characters voice, sounds like he has laryngitus or something!

MAIN BAD POINT - I spent quite a few hours playing this (offline mode), only to get 'stuck' by a bug or something. Ive been cornered in a cavern by servents, and according to the walkthrough, need a last green coin to get out, but I dont have one!!! Impossible to progress further, and thanks to the autosave, I cant just reload an earlier game, I'd have to start over. What a frustrating waste of time

Love the story and the atmosphere. After you download the game you will also have 3 other Last half Of Darkness games available in your Steam folder so you really make out. I got hung up on the coin puzzle at the end but there is a post about it in the discussion section on Steam. Don’t forget to check out the latest Last Half of Darkness game available which just came out Feb 7 2025.

Intriguing point and click games for adults are few and far between. This is one of my favorites! It has every element of mystery, horror and suspense that one would expect. Not an easy or childish by any means. This is one that you won't want to miss

As someone who enjoyed the first three Last Half of Darkness games on DOS, I was surprised to know that the series continued, so I had to pick this up. That was a mistake. For starters, the voice acting is awful. All the characters speak with such slow cadences that it's like listening to your friend rant about politics after downing Quaaludes. The main character's voice is also done by a terrible David Hayter impersonator, or someone who has a bunch of nails stuck in their throat.

Gameplay wise, there's not too much going on. It's an adventure game, so most of what you're doing is collecting items and solving puzzles, but you can easily miss picking up vital items if you're not hovering over every part of the screen. If you miss an item, there's no system in place to help you find it. There’s no hints and there's not even a button you can hit to have important items in a scene glow.

Visually, the game looks good for 1997. Too bad this was released in 2011. I mean, I wasn’t expecting much going in but… Wow. There’s virtually no graphic options and the game only runs in a 4:3 aspect ratio. A game that only runs in 4:3 in 2011? It seems pretty insane, seeing as though 16:9 had been the typical ratio for most media for several years up until that point. 2D elements, 3D elements, it doesn’t matter… It all looks horrible and the animations are just as bad. Whether it’s a cutscene or the main character interacting with the environment, it’s all bland and poorly animated.

Puzzles range from tolerable to downright frustrating. One of the puzzles is a game of Simon. With eight buttons. You have to memorize a pattern that goes all the way up to seven sequences on EIGHT buttons. If you're great at memorizing patterns and can focus, you'll do fine, but I often have trouble concentrating and remembering things so it was a frustrating nightmare.

The game was pretty bland all the way up to a specific puzzle towards the end. That's when I completely turned on it. See, all throughout the game you'll find these green coins that are apparently pretty important, but you're never told why. It turns out that this particular puzzle requires you to have 27 green coins. I got to this section with the right number of coins, but the game forces you into DESTROYING one of them before you even get to interact with the puzzle. That left me with 26 coins and being unable to continue.

I tried looking up walkthroughs, but the only ones I found were incomplete. I looked up YouTube videos about this game. I found a few, with a FIVE HOUR video being the most helpful, but I wasn't about to scrub the timeline of a five hour video to figure out the location of a single coin. I briefly thought about heading back to the game and wandering around for a bit, but traveling in this game is terribly slow and clunky. I just decided to watch the ending on YouTube. I didn't miss much.

Frustrating game design, bad voice acting, annoying puzzles, horrible visuals… Yeah. This isn’t a good game. I think everyone, but more specifically people who love adventure games, should stay very far away from this title.

One of the older games but definately fun to play, it is a tad aged regarding the controls but it's minor.This game has an interesting plot, nice puzzles and a good atmosphere that works. Recommended!
