Activating Ansel

Ansel screen capture allows you to take all kinds of screenshots (Super Resolution, Added Post Processing, and 360 Capture). It will eventually replace the spectator option but for now it is just experimental. We are in the process of getting white-listed by Nvidia but until then you’ll need to go through a few extra steps to get it working.

Requirements: gtx 780 or better
To activate Ansel navigate to:
C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Ansel\Tools\
And run NvCameraConfiguration.exe
Make sure “NvCamera Status” is set to “Enable”

To white-list all games
Open command prompt by type “cmd” in your windows search bar.
Enter:
cd C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Ansel\Tools\

To navigate to the right folder and then enter:
NvCameraEnable.exe whitelisting-everything

Here's what it should look like:

While in game press Alt+F2 to bring up the menu. Press F3 again to go back to the “lit” viewmode (F2 is the default Unlit mode for UE4).

Fantastic idea adding in Ansel to this game. I honestly can't believe this isn't added to every game by default. Sorry AMD users but this is a must. I've had great fun using this.

I just wish I hadn't missed out on submitting sound files for the droids. Still the devs have done a great job on this wee game.

Wait, is this method supposed to 'unlock' (whitelist) any game or just CAT interstellar or any UE4 game?

It will unlock any game that supports Ansel. They are few and far between (we might be the only exception).

Yes the official list on nvidia website is very short....and I played more or less all of them (or the newer ones are not on my to-play list). It would be really nice if Ansel worked in any game. After all it's just an equirectangular picture....one could do it 'manually' by taking enough screenshots and pasting them together with a tool (3rd party software)....I don't know why they would not release a 'universal' Ansel function for the screenshots. It would work without problems with any game in which you can completely hide the hud....

steam should support ansel screenshot viewing now that more games are getting official support....

It's totally possible but I don't think it's a priority for Steam. Generally speaking they try not to favor Nvidia of AMD. It would be nice though.

steam offers updating the drivers independently, but Ansel is something AMD hasn't got, it would not be really putting nvidia in favour since AMD hasn't anything similar to offer....I bet if both manufacturers had the same function available steam would put compatibility to both anyway. It's just a viewer of an equirectangular image after all
