how do you defeat the octopus?

i try hook fishing them but i keep dying

"Head for the first octopus you see when you walk right and try to lure it to walk towards the edge. The idea is that you pretty much have to "yank" the octopus out before it's able to be captured. Simply hooking and running won't get it out so you'll have to hook it then do a hard drop to a safe platform to "yank" it out."
