Uhh Help?
so I paid the money for MDK and MDK 2 the first one works but 2 is stuck on the pop up that says preparing to launch MDK2 my computer is pretty beefy so it shouldn't be a hardware problem unless its running too good for it :/ if thats the case will steam refund me for this?

MDK 2 has been sitting in my library for ages. I just could not get it to work no matter what I tried. Thankfully, this is my only Steam purchase that I have not been able to play

its a DX issue. try installing the version of DX it uses. then try reinstalling of course.fantastic game. worth the torture of troubleshooting. make sure you run it in administrative mode if your using 7 or 8 windows. also attempt to set combatability modes for 98 or windows 2000. after that i have noticed that the resolutions that it offers can sometimes be pre detected to be uncombatable with a screen no adays. google how to force start in 640x480 to diagnose the problem. I never had these issues but i completely understand the frustration regarding old games and wanting to play them with the latest technology. it almost seems we need to earn these games enjoyment....well they must have been great to earn this merit.

Keep at least one old PC around if you want to play games like this or dual boot.

Except Steam will likely not run (and certainly not be supported) on the system you require to run some old games on. Don't worry, though! Steam and publishers will gladly shovel these games out to you on Steam, knowing of the contradiction. Hell, even if they're completely broken games that won't work under any circumstances, they'll still get on Steam, keep on Steam, and show up on Steam sales. Never let a good dollar slip bye you!

I have Windows 7 and I play MDK 2 with absolutely no problem at all. MDK 1 glitches so that the floor/ground in the game turns white very often though :S But I haven't tried playing it in XP or 98 mode.

Hey guys. Since I'm building a rig, and wanting to play these classics (Quake,Unreal, etc.) along with modern games, I'm curious to know whether this will run on Windows 7 64-bit. I have Quake 2 running on there as well (with a patch), but I just want to know from y'all if this will run w/o compatability modes / or dual boot.
